Chapter 585 Injustice League (?)

On a stretch of ruins that seemed to go on forever, two slender figures were slowly and cautiously moving forward.

The attire of these two people was strange, like travelers in the desert, using cloaks to cover their upper bodies. Especially their faces, hidden under hoods, were indistinguishable due to the shadows.

The two walked very slowly, stopping every few steps to rummage through the rubble or ruins underfoot, seemingly searching for something.

Despite the ruins being everywhere, they actually managed to find some useful things, like a recorder broken in two, a cash register smashed into pieces, all of which were trash that an ordinary person wouldn't pay attention to.

Judging by the way the two straightened their backs and their cheerful limb movements, they were very satisfied with this trash, quickly putting the treasure they found into the backpacks on their backs.

"It's time to go, Reed," the more slender figure suddenly spoke, surprisingly it was a woman's voice.

"It's almost afternoon, those gang members will be coming out soon, and in a little while, people from the government will also arrive. We still need to set aside some time to find food."

"I know, Susan," Reed glanced at the children's electronic watch on his wrist, sighed looking at the cute pony pattern. "My informant brought a message, today the Serpent Gang will come out a little earlier, they want to set a day as their festival, it seems to be today."

"Festival? Sunday?" Susan frowned, the disgusted emotion in her tone couldn't be concealed.

"Yes, they even gave it a name, called Crazy Sunday."

"Sounds like Member Day for some fast food brands."

"You better not mention this in front of Johnny, he's been craving those junk food for a long time."

Susan sighed, actually she was the same. In the past, she always told Johnny to eat less junk food, but now it seems prophetic that they might never eat it again. Even she was starting to crave those unhealthy smells.

When it was easily available, they ignored it, but now that they are down on their luck, they can't even afford it.

Somehow, Reed's emotion also became a bit low. The two people, possibly both disheartened because they couldn't eat junk food, walked back to their base in silence, cautiously and zigzaggingly.

After arriving at a place covered by a huge stone slab, Reed squatted down and rhythmically tapped the stone slab lightly a few times, then took a step back and waited.

Not letting the two wait too long, a few seconds later the stone slab lifted a bit, revealing a crack large enough for one person to pass through. Reed and Susan went in one after another.

After both of them had completely entered under the stone slab, the stone slab slowly returned to fit flush with the ground again, looking as if nothing had happened.

Susan and Reed landed steadily. After the sound of shoes rubbing against the ground faded away, dim lights suddenly lit up in the dark space, and a large face carved from stone suddenly appeared in front of the two.

"Welcome back, Reed, Susan."

"We're back safe, Ben," Susan tossed the backpack to Reed, walked forward and gently hugged the Thing's waist. "Have you grown taller again?"

"I don't think so?" Ben scratched his stone head. "Please don't grow any taller, if I get any taller I'll only be able to walk hunched over."

"Don't listen to Susan, Ben," Reed came closer. "She's just teasing you. I remember your height, it's the same as two days ago, no change."

Hearing his friend's clarification, Ben wiped away non-existent sweat and breathed a sigh of relief. This was the first time since his birth that he felt happy because he hadn't grown taller.

Susan said in annoyance, "I wasn't teasing Ben, not everyone is like you, able to remember things so accurately."

"Yes, yes, yes, I was wrong," Reed's attitude of admitting fault was very good. "Let's go, you two, we still have a family member waiting."

Ben quickly snatched the backpack from Reed's hand, in his current state he couldn't go out at all. This was really hard for Ben, he wasn't lazy by nature, and could only find some things he could do within his power.

"Uh," Reed looked at his arm that had been pulled. "But your power seems to have increased a bit."

"I know that," Ben scratched his head in shame. "The radio you fixed was broken by me, I swear I only pressed a button."

"The radio is broken? Then Johnny must have been complaining all morning," Reed didn't blame Ben, instead he joked. "Let's go inside quickly, lest he throws a tantrum."

Just like that, Reed smiled, stretched out his arm, and walked inside with the tall Ben and the slender Susan.

‘Reed's Inner Heart Notes, Third Entry.’

Reed sat in the corner, fiddling with the radio in his hand while thinking listlessly. Behind him were Ben, Susan, and Johnny, the three of them were sitting on some car seats chatting.

‘It's been a week since that unknown energy burst, and I now give the middle finger to my naive self from a week ago.’

Reed threw the broken radio shell aside, casually picked up another shell and started installing it, then multitaskingly organized the message he had obtained these days in his heart.

‘Originally, we were waiting for rescue in New York, which had become ruins. Five days ago, we received a message on the radio I pieced together. General Ross, the top person in the military, was dead, killed by an unknown superhuman assassination.’

‘Not only that, General Ross's daughter also went missing at almost the same time, which led to Hyperion, the number one superhero, losing his reason. After all, who would have thought Hyperion was General Ross's son?’

‘It's said that Hyperion was in an exhausted state due to stopping the New York riot, and was attacked by an unknown superhuman who seized the timing. The result of the battle was Hyperion passing out, and the Squadron Supreme suffering heavy casualties.’

‘After waking up, Hyperion, due to receiving messages including his father's death, sister's disappearance, and comrade's death, experienced a personality change in his entire person. The result is that America is now almost under his one-man rule.’

Reed held a screwdriver, turning the screw little by little.

‘So what has this superhuman president done since taking office? Of course, it's to find the superhuman who caused his family to be ruined and people dead, which is understandable, but it has implicated all superhumans, who are now suffering.’

Reed sighed, recalling the despair-inducing news he heard on the radio a few days ago.

"We must nip danger in the bud," Hyperion's haggard sound came from the recorder, mixed with a lot of voices of discussion.

This was of course, because the program being broadcast at the time was a condolence broadcast hosted by the president himself, inserted to comfort the masses. Obviously, this superhero had barged into the program uninvited.

"From today onwards, all superhumans will be under control, starting with America."
