Chapter 426 Queen and Little Elf

"Then let them come!"

Gambit flipped his wrist, and several playing cards appeared in his hand. Crimson energy enveloped the cards, and in the blink of an eye, these small playing cards transformed into terrifying bombs.

"Be careful, Remy," Beast Hank reminded. "This is the village center."

He dissipated the energy, and the playing cards fluttered in Gambit's hand, then vanished in the blink of an eye, as if they had never existed.

"I agree with Remy," Storm Ororo said, standing up while holding fresh flowers. "If it were just six mutants who died, it definitely wouldn't cause such a big commotion. Besides, those people deserved it. If we don't stand behind our compatriot now, they might end up even more miserable than I was before."

Speaking of her past experiences, Ororo's body trembled. Clearly, she hadn't fully emerged from the shadow of her past, but this pain only strengthened her determination to provide protection for mutants.

Seeing the atmosphere gradually becoming tense, Magneto, as the leader, stepped forward. Just by standing up, everyone in the room focused their line of sight on him.

"No need to get agitated, Remy and Ororo," Magneto said, extending his hand to signal them to calm down. "No one is saying we won't save them. The purpose of us all gathering here is only one thing: to save our compatriot."

With Magneto's assurance, the atmosphere in the room eased slightly. Even the more reason-minded Hank and Jean were holding back anger in their inner heart, though they didn't express it outwardly.

"How to save them – that's the reason we've convened this meeting." Magneto waved his hand, and countless forks and spoons floated over. With the movement of Magneto's hands, these utensils were divided into two groups.

However, the distribution was very uneven. One side had only seven spoons, while the other had countless various utensils. Yang Le immediately understood that Old Wang was using objects to represent people.

"Unfortunately, children, due to some special reason, I cannot help you directly," Magneto said apologetically.

"Although our team is gradually expanding, we are still few in number compared to humans, and even more so when compared to those masked vigilantes."

"Our mutant population is small, and every single one is incredibly important. I hope that while you are saving your partner, you also pay attention to your own safety. Therefore, our action must be swift and precise."

Magneto waved his hand, and the utensils returned to their original positions. He sighed and continued, "Try to avoid engaging those masked vigilantes, but if they push too hard, don't hold back. I'll say it again, with me around, the sky won't fall just yet."

"Yes! Principal!"

"How are you feeling?"

Hearing a familiar sound, the pink-haired girl trembled and raised her head. Seeing the face of her benefactor, she finally felt a little relieved.

"Sorry, I've been away from the real world for too long. So many years of changes outside have left me completely disoriented." The blonde girl, carrying a full bag, placed it in front of the pink-haired girl. Various food items, packed tightly inside, spilled out.

"I was worried about what to do without money, but I didn't expect the shop owner to see me and immediately say, 'Take it all! You can have anything you want!' What a generous person."

'That's not generosity, it's fear,' the pink-haired girl thought to herself.

The blonde girl took out bread from the bag, tore open the packaging, and took a big bite. Then, she couldn't help but nod her head in satisfaction.

"Things from the human world are still delicious. I haven't eaten something like this in years." The blonde girl looked at the bread in her hand with a smile, as if the packaged food in her hand was the most delicious thing in the world. But soon, she noticed the pink-haired girl who hadn't moved.

"My name is Illyana Rasputina. What's your name, Pixie?" Illyana asked, squatting down in front of the pink-haired girl.

"P-Pixie?" The pink-haired girl raised her head in surprise. "Me?"

"Of course, it's you." Illyana took another bite of bread. "You have wings on your back, your hair is pink, and your eyes are so beautiful, just like a Pixie from a fairy tale."

"I... My name is Megan Gwynn," Megan's face flushed, as if she was shy because of Illyana's address to her.

"Alright, Megan." Illyana groped in the bag again and pulled out another bread, handing it to Megan. "Here, eat up. Aren't you hungry?"

Actually, Megan was already starving. Rather, she hadn't eaten food in a whole day. Neil and his gang were always like this. After inhaling the hallucinogenic dust she produced, they would be in a daze for a long time, during which they couldn't even take care of themselves, let alone give her food to eat.

As for her going to find food herself, that was even more unthinkable. Megan had once tried to rummage for food in the refrigerator because she was unbearably hungry, but Neil, high on drugs, thought she was trying to escape and beat her up. Since then, she had never dared to take action on her own again. Even going to the toilet required Neil's permission.

Megan was still in a daze, recalling the past, but Illyana couldn't wait any longer. She rudely shoved the bread into Megan's slightly opened small mouth. Megan was startled by the invasion of the foreign object, but then she reacted.

With trembling hands, Megan took the bread and gently took a small bite. The sweet cream melted on her tongue, and it was like a floodgate opening – she couldn't stop herself anymore. Megan started to wolf it down.

For some reason, Megan felt the bread becoming more and more bitter as she ate. When she looked at Illyana, she understood. In the other girl's eyes, she saw herself already crying. Tears kept dripping down, eventually falling onto the bread.

"Alright, alright," Illyana said. She took out another bottle of milk from the bag, unscrewed the lid, and placed it beside Megan. "There's plenty here. If it's not enough, I'll just go get more. That shop owner is very generous."

"Wuwuwu!" Megan was in tears, her face covered in tears. 'That's definitely not generosity.'

"Hmm?" Illyana's brow suddenly furrowed, and she abruptly turned her head to look behind them. Megan was startled by her sudden action and, forgetting the cream on her mouth, asked,

"What? What happened?"

"Something's coming," Illyana said, standing up and finishing the last bite of bread in her hand. "Find a place to hide. Don't come out unless I call you."

"Is... Is it the people coming to catch us?" Megan asked cautiously. During their escape, she had of course noticed the dead Neil and the others. She wouldn't be surprised by humans pursuing them.

"Rest assured, Pixie," Illyana said, walking towards the outside without turning her head, her waist-length golden hair swaying behind her. "You won't be captured. That's the Queen's promise to you."
