Chapter 387: Bide One’s Time
"Certainly a mother’s perfect child," Sersi embraced Troy, her tone maternal as she soothed the angry girl. But her eyes betrayed her amusement.
"Sersi!!!"
A lioness’s roar shook the castle. Even the walls trembled as Wonder Woman’s fury erupted.
Sersi didn’t flinch. "That’s Diana," she whispered to Troy. "She’s here to avenge Hippolyta. Don’t underestimate her."
Troy stiffened. "Who dares interrupt our moment?"
"Exactly who we hoped for," Sersi thought, feigning panic. "Diana’s here to destroy us. She’ll blame you for killing her ‘mother.’"
Sersi’s lair was no secret. Myths of Circe, the sorceress who turned men into beasts on Aeaea, marked her location. Wonder Woman, armed to the teeth, would never hesitate to storm in.
"Let me handle her," Troy stormed toward the window, but Sersi held her back.
"Wait, my dear." Sersi adjusted Troy’s robe. "You can’t face Diana half-dressed. She’d mistake you for a seductive princess."
The robe was more practical than affectionate—a tool to control Troy, who Sersi cherished as a prized weapon.
"Patience isn’t weakness," Sersi murmured, conjuring a purple portal. "But you can’t teleport her easily. Demigods resist magic."
Reluctantly, Troy let Sersi guide her through the portal.
---
Wonder Woman shattered the doors, sword raised. Yang, now an Aesir warrior, followed cautiously.
The throne room was adorned with purple silk and grotesque statues. Diana slashed the throne, but the debris triggered a trap—a purple dome encased them, statues awakening to attack.
Yang smirked. "A game? Let’s end it."
His fist slammed into a charging statue, reducing it to dust. A surge of blue lightning obliterated the others, shattering the dome like glass.
"Useless decoys," Diana spat, disarming the last statue. "Sersi wouldn’t hide so plainly."
"Where do you think she went?" Yang asked.
"I don’t know," Diana sighed. "But this was her trap. She’s involved somehow."
"Let’s use Clock King’s time vision," Yang suggested.
Diana hesitated but nodded.
