Chapter 58: The Jick Tribe's Reaction, the Evil Spirit Hound

As food!
Hearing these words, the other Big Goblin nodded fearfully.
Every winter, some of their tribesmen were eaten by the Trolls. The mere thought of such a scene filled the Big Goblin's mind with an indescribable fear.
Before this!
They never imagined Agu would do something so insane as to request help from the Trolls.
Those terrifying monsters...
Looking at Agu, who had emerged completely unscathed, this Big Goblin couldn't possibly imagine what he was like when he met the Trolls.
He, at least, would probably be too terrified to even speak in the presence of the Trolls.
At this thought, the Big Goblin was filled with reverence for Agu.
"It's alright," Agu said softly, facing his two tribesmen who were trembling all over. "It's still summer, and food is plentiful. The Trolls won't eat us."
"W-what do we do n-now?" the stuttering Big Goblin asked.
Actually, according to the Tribe's way of thinking, neither the Trolls nor a powerful human was someone they could afford to provoke. It was best to stay out of it.
Unless that human trespassed into the Depths of the Jungle where they resided, the Troll lords wouldn't pay it any mind.
"Big Brother is the strongest hero in the tribe; we have to rescue him," Agu said, gritting his teeth. "First, we'll return to the tribe, gather everything of value, and beg that human to let Big Brother go."
About two weeks ago, Big Brother Muguo, who had gone to the jungle's Outer Area, suddenly disappeared. This was immediately followed by the deaths of a large number of Goblins.
They only found out what had happened after questioning the Goblins who had fled from the Outer Area into the Depths of the Jungle.
According to the Goblins' description, the human was terrifyingly strong—he had even killed a powerful Ogre with ease!
This plunged the entire Jick Tribe into a state of panic.
Judging from the strength the human had displayed, he was simply not an opponent the Jick Tribe could hope to challenge!
That was why Agu had no choice but to brave the danger of going to the Trolls' Cave to ask for their help in dealing with the human.
In the end... the Trolls couldn't have cared less.
Two days later.
The second day of the Blaze Moon.
In the jungle.
*Gu-lu-lu-lu!*
*Gu-lu-lu-lu!*
A deep, guttural growl echoed through the woods.
Two large magical beasts, nearly three meters long and taller than a man, were pawing at the ground, their heads lowered to reveal sharp, drooling teeth as they continuously circled Tang Zheng.
"Is this your territory? Is it too late for me to leave now?"
Tang Zheng held Big Goblin Muguo in one hand, his other resting lightly on his sword hilt. His eyes darted between the two magical beasts as they circled him, one in front and one behind.
*Awooo!* one of the magical beasts roared.
"Alright, I'll take that as a no." Tang Zheng shrugged, his expression turning grave.
By now, Big Goblin Muguo was so terrified he didn't even dare to breathe too loudly.
These two magical beasts were covered in thick black fur. They resembled larger demonic wolves in appearance, but they were not.
Demonic wolves are pack animals. Moreover, the features of these two magical beasts were much more distinct; two horns protruded outwards from their heads.
Most striking of all was a black chain coiled around each of their bodies, like a snake poised to strangle its prey at a moment's notice.
As the two magical beasts moved, the black chains wrapped around them slithered slightly, not impeding their movements in the least.
Evil Spirit Hound!
Some also called them Fiend Hounds!
They were a rather terrifying type of magical beast found within the Touv Great Forest, capable of hunting Ogres.
Their level was slightly higher than an Ogre's, and when combined with their superior agility, speed, and special attack methods, they held a clear advantage when hunting the lumbering, brutishly strong Ogres!
Over the past two days, since the Goblin population had been more or less wiped out, Tang Zheng had been forced to expand his search area.
As a result, he had carelessly ventured a little deeper into the jungle, entering the territory of this pair of Evil Spirit Hounds.
And so, the current situation had come to pass.
Tang Zheng's gaze swept over the black chains on the Evil Spirit Hounds, and he felt that this was going to be tricky.
It was a well-known fact that for creatures like these, the abdomen was their weak point. Against canines, it was clearly the easiest place to attack and the spot where one could inflict the most damage.
But the iron chains wrapped around the Evil Spirit Hounds completely negated this weak point. Moreover, these iron chains weren't merely for defense.
*Grrrr!*
The Evil Spirit Hound circling behind Tang Zheng stared at his back with its greenish-brown, beast-like eyes and let out a low growl. The slow, deliberate movement of its limbs paused.
*Swoosh!*
Unable to restrain itself any longer, the Evil Spirit Hound was the first to attack. Its hind legs kicked powerfully against the ground as it lunged at Tang Zheng's back.
The Evil Spirit Hound's sadistic hunting instincts meant it preferred to play cruel games with its prey, toying with them and killing them only when they were lost in despair. That was what the Evil Spirit Hound enjoyed most.
But now, it had abandoned this preference to launch the first strike. Clearly, Tang Zheng's very presence made both Evil Spirit Hounds feel threatened.
*Swoosh!*
The Evil Spirit Hound's massive black silhouette shot forward, carrying a foul wind. Its great maw, dripping with saliva and reeking of a putrid stench, opened wide as it bit down on Tang Zheng's sword hand.
Hearing the commotion from behind, Tang Zheng's expression didn't change. He quickly sidestepped to the left and, at the same time, swung his right hand, slashing forcefully behind him.
A flash of the sword!
*Bang!*
The iron sword's blade slammed against the horns on the Evil Spirit Hound's head, producing a muffled thud.
*Awooo!* The Evil Spirit Hound let out a pained cry, its entire head slammed to the ground by the sheer force of the iron sword. A look of panic filled its brown, beastly eyes.
It never imagined that this human, so much smaller than itself, could possess such incredible strength. The Ogres it had hunted before were the strongest creatures it had ever encountered in this forest.
*Krr-krr—*
The sword blade ground relentlessly against the horns.
The Evil Spirit Hound panted raggedly, struggling to lift its head, but it was utterly unable to.
The other Evil Spirit Hound had also been preparing to launch a surprise attack at the same moment its companion charged!
However, when it saw the terrifying strength the human used to pin its companion to the ground with a single blow, its own intended attack froze in sheer fright!
"Not going to attack?"
"In that case, I won't hold back."
Tang Zheng remained sideways, pinning one hound with his iron sword while tilting his head to look at the other, which was too afraid to move, and smiled lightly.
