Chapter 562

chapter 401 part 2

*Fwoosh!*

A near-tangible wave of energy erupted within the cave, sweeping through it like a gale and leaving a web of fine cracks on the surrounding sturdy obsidian walls.

"Courting death!"

The mysterious Dragon Lord opened its mouth, spitting out the two words in an ice-cold tone.

Its bright amber eyes stared fixedly at the source of the red light and the mechanical alerts.

Although the cave was pitch-black, the dragon race was naturally endowed with the ability of Night Vision, so its sight was unimpeded in the darkness. It could clearly see the item.

It was an object about a meter tall, shaped like an inferior human, looking like a living human being.

In reality.

This was an item, or more precisely, a Golem—an artificial being that only accepted its master's commands and had no self-awareness or ability to think.

This "Golem" possessed a special detection-type ability, making it an extremely precious item!

Although the mysterious Dragon Lord had remained in the cave and did not directly control the Body of the Abyss, the organization still accepted its control and commands.

Besides its own immense power, the Golem was also a contributing factor. All inner circle members were, to a certain extent, under this Golem's surveillance!

Such a precious "Golem" was naturally not of its own creation; it lacked such technology and ability. It was an accidental find.

To put it simply.

It was something it had picked up, not an item seized from the evil Preya.

"Alert!"

"All 9 marked personnel have escaped surveillance. Initiate detection magic to confirm their location?"

The humanoid Golem's mechanical voice sounded again, awaiting the next command.

Rage flared in the mysterious Dragon Lord's eyes. If only one or two members had escaped surveillance, it could be dismissed as an accident.

But now!

This was clearly no accident. The Body of the Abyss had completely rebelled.

Faced with this outcome, the mysterious Dragon Lord was somewhat incredulous, feeling an uncontrollable fury, yet these emotions were instantly replaced by deep vigilance.

It was well aware of the strength of those bugs in the Body of the Abyss. With their power, they were no match for it.

These undead were not foolish.

They knew that rebellion would only lead to one outcome: annihilation. Yet they had still made this choice. There was something strange about this whole affair.

*Thump!*

A dull, heavy sound echoed.

The mysterious Dragon Lord seemed to have stood up, but its entire body remained shrouded in thick darkness. Only its pupils, reflecting the magical light, glinted with a cold, menacing gleam.

It had to make a decision quickly!

The Body of the Abyss had considerable value, but once they rebelled, there was no need for them to exist. Moreover, they had to be completely annihilated!

Because these members of the Body of the Abyss knew its stronghold and some of its information. It absolutely could not allow these undead bugs any chance to leak its information.

But—

The mysterious Dragon Lord couldn't be sure why these bugs dared to do this, or if they possessed some unknown means or countermeasures.

"Scan," the mysterious Dragon Lord commanded, its mind racing to a decision.

"Initiating anti-detection."

"Scan complete... No trace of any detection magic detected."

The humanoid Golem's eyes flashed with red light, and a wave of magic power flowed out from its body before dissipating. It spoke mechanically.

Hearing this result, the mysterious Dragon Lord felt a sense of relief, judging that the Body of the Abyss had probably not leaked the location of its stronghold.

Furthermore, the Body of the Abyss likely had no outside help. Even if they did, their backer wasn't particularly powerful.

Otherwise!

Given the nature of those undead bugs, they would have probably led their backer directly to its stronghold, rather than choosing their current method of desertion.

"Very well."

The mysterious Dragon Lord raised its proud head, revealing a cavernous maw. "Mere bugs, you will pay a painful price for this ignorant decision!"

As it spoke.

The mysterious Dragon Lord raised its arm and took a gold coin from the darkness. It appeared a size larger than the currency used in normal transactions.

The faint golden light it emitted proved that this gold coin was a magical item.

*Ting!*

With a crisp sound, the gold coin was flipped into the air. Its front and back sides, a crying face and a smiling face that looked somewhat comical, spun end over end as the faint golden light grew more intense.

*Clack.*

The gold coin landed on one of the mysterious True Dragon Lord's phalanges, showing the smiling face.

"Activate detection magic."

Upon seeing the result, the mysterious True Dragon Lord immediately issued a command to the humanoid Golem.

This gold coin was a magical item called the Prank Coin, one of the items harvested from that evil Preya.

It had the effect of divination.

Although the scope of the divination was rather vague, it was a fairly useful magical item. If it could be used in conjunction with a job that had divination-type abilities, it might be able to produce more precise results.

Unfortunately.

The mysterious True Dragon Lord had never encountered anyone with such a job ability, so the true effect of this item could not be unleashed.

However, it was not completely unusable.

Just now, it had performed divination on the level of danger. The result was a "smiling face," which proved the danger was not high.

"Command received."

The red light in the humanoid Golem's eyes intensified, and its mechanical voice rang out:

"5th Tier Magic—Clairvoyance!"

An invisible wave of magic power spread out.

After a short while, the humanoid Golem seemed to have determined the location. It raised its arm, aimed it at the mysterious Dragon Lord, and spoke again:

"5th Tier Magic—Detect Link!"

A slightly blurry image appeared in the mysterious True Dragon Lord's vision. It let out a contemptuous snort:

"The power of filth."

"Mid-Tier Primal World Shift!"

—*Swoosh!*

The mysterious Dragon Lord's figure vanished in a flash. The dense darkness disappeared like steam in an instant, and the deep cave returned to tranquility.

Only the humanoid Golem's eyes still emitted a faint red glow, which then gradually began to fade.

*Crack.*

The human-shaped Golem, which should have possessed no wisdom or self-awareness, suddenly twisted its neck, making a sound like grinding, rusted iron plates.

It quietly stared at the spot where the mysterious Dragon Lord had disappeared.

"Reporting information."

A faint murmur escaped the humanoid Golem. Then, the red light in its eyes vanished completely.

—Fenlia Valley.

This was a desolate region of hills. Situated near the distant sea, it was not only geographically remote but also sparsely populated by any form of creature.

This was because, like the Imperia Kingdom, this land was part of the territory of a kingdom that had been destroyed over 200 years ago.

The undead here, however, had long since vanished with the passage of time, leaving only a land so eroded by negative energy that no living thing could grow.

Yet at this moment!

This once-silent region was now teeming with a dense number of undead monsters. In the sky, a dozen extremely rare bone dragons circled.
