Chapter 472

chapter 355 part 2

As for the Re-Estize Kingdom, it had always had the fewest magic casters among the nations.

"Then it's no wonder."

Water Cardinal Sinedine sighed softly and raised his hands in a prayer-like gesture.

"How lamentable. With your talent, if you had been born under the radiance of the gods, you would surely have achieved even greater things."

Tang Zheng chuckled but neither responded nor made any gesture.

"This is the research data on the 'Fusion Potion'." Water Cardinal Sinedine sighed once more, took out a pre-prepared document, and pushed it across the round table.

*This old fox, after all that talk, he's finally produced something substantial.*

Tang Zheng nonchalantly picked up the document and began to read. The information wasn't too extensive; the Theocracy had likely hidden a portion of it.

That they were willing to show him this data meant that the Theocracy was incapable of producing the "Fusion Potion" he had refined and could only cooperate with him.

Looking at the dense information, the corner of Tang Zheng's eye twitched almost imperceptibly. He began to chant in a low, expressionless voice: "Decipher Magic."

A faint blue light of magic power enveloped the document in his hands!

The decrypted information flowed easily into his mind.

"The data is a bit dense. This will help me understand the information more quickly," Tang Zheng said casually.

A second-tier arcane spell?

"Four Great Elements" sensed the fluctuation of magic power and glanced at Tang Zheng in surprise, not expecting him to be able to use arcane magic.

Earth Cardinal Raymond and Water Cardinal Sinedine, however, were not surprised.

The Alchemist class was an arcane-type job to begin with, and previous information had already revealed that Tang Zheng could use low-tier arcane magic.

Water Cardinal Sinedine patiently began to explain: "According to our experiments, a summoner finds it easier to fuse with the angel they themselves summoned."

"Due to the limited number of 'Fusion Potions,' we don't have a large amount of experimental data."

"But we can basically confirm that once the angel's summoning time is exceeded, the 'fuser' will be affected by rejection."

"However!"

Water Cardinal Sinedine paused, allowing Tang Zheng, who was reading the document, to digest this information, then continued:

"If the fuser is a devout believer, the rejection reaction will weaken. This is especially true for the most devout believers, for whom the feeling of rejection becomes extremely faint."

At this point, Tang Zheng had also read the results of this part of the experiment, and a flash of realization crossed his eyes.

*So that's how it is!*

He had suspected back then that the rejection between him and the angel might be related to his "Karma Value." After all, his Karma Value was only 20, which could hardly be considered in the "good" range. At best, it was chaotic neutral.

The Slane Theocracy had no shortage of believers, and certainly no shortage of devout ones. In game terms, there were undoubtedly many with high Karma Values.

"This is...'Complete Fusion'?" Tang Zheng noticed another section of the document below.

"Correct!"

"Everything has a price, unless it is a great god." Water Cardinal Sinedine nodded, his tone growing somber.

Earth Cardinal Raymond picked up the thread, his voice indifferent: "According to our experiments, if a fuser remains merged with an angel for a long time, for more than two days,"

"They will gradually and completely fuse with the angel. Even if the angel is forcibly destroyed, the fuser will disappear along with it. The same is true even if the summoner cancels the magic."

"—This is what the document refers to as 'Complete Fusion'."

"In addition, an angel fused in this way will have greatly increased resistance to dispel-type magic."

Tang Zheng frowned. There wasn't much information in this section, but from Earth Cardinal Raymond's words alone, he could tell that someone had already died for this.

He wasn't dissatisfied because of that!

Rather, he had only given the Holy Kingdom three "Fusion Potions." The level of detail in this document seemed impossible to obtain from just three potions.

"There must be more to it than just this!"

Tang Zheng put down the document, pressing one hand lightly on the table.

"The most crucial piece of information, the 'angel's existence time,' is not mentioned. It's impossible for the duration to be the same for different people with different strengths under different fusion conditions."

Just as Earth Cardinal Raymond was about to speak, Water Cardinal Sinedine sighed faintly.

"Let me explain," he said.

"This is the second price."

"The reason the summoned angel can exist for a longer time is naturally due to some kind of cost. The power being consumed is the life of the fuser."

In the vast, spiral-shaped hall, the bright light from outside the glass inexplicably dimmed.

"According to information detected by magic, taking the highest-tier angel, the 'Archangel Dominion,' as an example, it consumes roughly seven years of a human's life to allow it to exist for one year."

Water Cardinal Sinedine's eyelids drooped as he spoke slowly, "Of course, this data is not entirely accurate."

"Seven years of life?"

Tang Zheng looked at the two Cardinals sitting opposite him, his expression changing.

To so bluntly reveal the darkness within all this to him!

These two old foxes…

Wait!

"That's not right!"

Tang Zheng's face turned cold. He raised his arm and pointed at the Archangel Dominion in front of them.

"You just said this angel can exist for ten years! According to that ratio, it would require seventy years of life, maybe even more!"

"A normal, devout believer who is also a faith-based magic caster of a certain strength would not be very young. No matter how you calculate it, it's impossible to make an Archangel Dominion exist for ten years!"

"Also—I only gave the Holy Kingdom three Fusion Potions. This much data could never have been researched with just those three potions."

The questioning voice echoed continuously in the vast hall.

Earth Cardinal Raymond suddenly frowned as well. He, too, had discovered the anomaly and looked at Water Cardinal Sinedine beside him with surprise.

His sharp intuition also sensed that something was wrong here.

"Because the one who fused with this Archangel Dominion was an infant."

"And an infant only requires about one-third the amount of the potion."

The wrinkles on Water Cardinal Sinedine's face twitched and bunched together as he spoke slowly, his tone utterly devoid of emotion:

"The purest of lives has a higher resonance with an angel than the most devout of believers."

*Bang!*

Tang Zheng slammed his hand on the table and shot to his feet. His expression turned ugly as he glared coldly at the two men opposite him. "You actually used an infant for an experiment!"

At almost the exact same moment!

*CRASH!*

The massive glass wall of the hall suddenly shattered with a thunderous roar.

"Who's there!" "Four Great Elements" immediately assumed a defensive stance, shouting sternly toward the direction of the broken window.

But in the next moment, the grim expression on his face froze.

"So the last angel is here!"

A young girl with a black scythe slung over her shoulder, her black-and-white hair tied in a ponytail, stood on the shattered window frame, tilting her head and muttering to herself.
