Chapter 45

chapter 026 part 1

Loki placed the Tesseract onto a complex spatial instrument. Blue light erupted like a sun, and driven by the instrument, a beam of light shot straight into the sky, covering the sky in blue, and under the shocked gaze of countless people, a portal to another world opened.

"What is that? Stark Industries' new energy source?"

"Who's that ugly guy?"

Many people craned their necks to look, some even pulled out binoculars, marveling at the unprecedented sight.

A blue vortex obscured the sky. The next moment, under the dumbfounded gaze of New York citizens, terrifying shadows vaguely began to pass through.

"You alien, what are you doing?!!!"

Tony raised his hand, firing an energy cannon at the instrument, but it was useless. The Tesseract's inherent energy field was beyond what Tony's armor could break through.

Tony's face darkened. He adjusted his armor to a higher energy output and fired again, still to no effect.

"It's useless, you foolish mortals. This is the power of a god! Kneel quietly and accept the god's judgment of doom upon you vile mortals!"

Loki laughed maniacally, his face twisted. He pointed the Mind Scepter, and with a deafening boom, Tony was sent flying. Large areas of his chest armor were severely damaged, a shocking sight.

At this moment.

The blue space-time tunnel completely solidified. The next instant, countless strange flying devices swarmed out from within, densely packed. Their incredible speed caused friction with the air, emitting a screeching sound, like thousands of venomous wasps pouring frantically from a beehive.

The Chitauri Army had arrived!

And this was just the beginning. Abnormally large Leviathans roared like whales, crossing the space-time tunnel to arrive on Earth. Their massive bodies crashed indiscriminately, and inside them, large numbers of Chitauri soldiers poured out.

"A-aliens?!"

"Prepare for battle! Everyone grab your weapons! Where's the military? Where are they?!"

Whoosh!

From the space-time tunnel, several impossibly large Black Monoliths now crashed down with a rumble. Each Monolith that hit New York City caused terrifying shockwaves, like a small planet plummeting. The ground was torn up, and skyscrapers were snapped in half.

These few Monoliths alone destroyed most of New York City, and countless civilians died tragically in the surging waves.

And this, was just the beginning.

On the Monoliths, various portals opened, releasing the beasts imprisoned within. Four-armed, black-skinned monsters, shaped like wolves, let out piercing shrieks, pouring out from the Monoliths like a tide, covering the mountains and plains.

Even Thanos's bio-weapon, the Outriders, had arrived.

"Monsters! Monsters! Help!!!"

"Where are the superheroes? Where's the military? Someone save me!!!"

[Begging for flowers and evaluation tickets!]

Chapter 60

The Outriders, as bio-weapons, only triumphed by sheer numbers. Other than that, there was nothing truly commendable about them – obedience and fearlessness were the minimum requirements for all bio-weapons.

Compared to Darkseid's Parademon Army next door, they were indeed in a different league. But in the eyes of humans on Earth at this moment, these Outriders were already extremely terrifying creatures.

Vast numbers of Outriders swept in like a tidal wave, pouring frantically from the Monoliths, killing everyone they saw, turning all of New York City into a living hell.

The scene was extremely bloody, and with the constant bombing from the Chitauri warriors' energy weapons in the sky, large numbers of civilians were being massacred every moment.

This was war, true war, where no means were too extreme once it began!

The Avengers quickly assembled, but besides Captain Marvel and Iron Man, whose strengths were decent, the combat power of the others was truly lacking. The most powerful Captain America was still just smashing with his shield.

Whoosh!

Captain Marvel darted around the battlefield, easily destroying all the Monoliths, and even the Leviathans were effortlessly taken down. However, even more Monoliths and armies quickly poured into Earth from the space-time vortex.

Boom!

A startling wave of telekinesis swept across the entire field, killing large numbers of Chitauri.

"Hey, I thought you guys died in the meteorite crash," Tony immediately shouted.

Logan looked up at the sky, forcefully tossed his cigar to the ground, and said coldly, "You should worry about yourself first, lest you get wiped out."

After speaking, he looked at Jean with a loving gaze, a look that instantly made the already somber Cyclops feel utterly disgusted.

Professor X's expression was serious. He said in a deep voice, "Jean, you and Ororo, seal the space-time vortex entrance. Don't let more enemies in. Logan, you find a way to work with the Avengers to shut down that device. Scott, you stay with me!"

"Professor, why don't you use psychic power to control these guys?"

"I tried. These guys are hybrid semi-organic, semi-mechanical beings. I can't completely control them." Professor X's face was grave as he looked up at the enemies pouring into Earth like a tsunami.

In the depths of his eyes, besides shock, there was a profound apprehension. His broken legs seemed to ache at this moment.

His legs had been crippled years ago while he and Magneto were fighting an alien.

He would never forget that experience.

The X-Men joined the war, especially with Jean and Ororo, who could control the weather to create widespread lightning storms, clearing the field in an almost savage manner. Large numbers of enemies were annihilated, successfully stabilizing the situation.

Many surviving citizens cheered, their gazes towards the X-Men no longer holding the past rejection and aversion, but instead filled with gratitude, with tears streaming down their faces.

Only those who receive help in their gravest crisis can truly understand this feeling.

Professor X sensed the countless wills of gratitude and remorse, and a smile appeared on his lips, a look of profound satisfaction.

"Hmph, these fools, why aren't they running? What are they waiting for?"

Logan was uncomfortable in such a situation of being thanked and worshipped. His expression was unnatural, and he snorted angrily, climbing a tall building and then dismembering a Leviathan with a few slashes of his claws, acting extremely domineering.
