"Although this kind of play isn't the first time, it's as forced as always. I'm almost getting used to just Dueling whenever something happens."

Watching Geb raise his Duel Disk, Hayato unfolded his own and stepped forward. "But I won't avoid a challenge. No one in the village can beat me in a Duel."

"Duel!"

"Duel!"

[Geb: 4000 LP]

[Hayato: 4000 LP]

Almost the instant the Duel began, Hayato quickly completed his Draw and seized the first turn, Drawing a Card from his Deck. "I'll take the first turn! Draw!"

"While I don't know what Deck you're using, since you're from the Tomb Keepers, I'm guessing it's definitely not going to be anything 'sunny'," Hayato said, looking at Geb opposite him, Drawing a Card from his Hand. "But it doesn't matter, because the Deck I'm playing this time fundamentally isn't afraid of getting hit by traps!"

"Summon a monster in Face-Down Defense Position, then activate Continuous Spell Card **[Nightmare's Mirage]**, and then Set the remaining four Cards in my Hand. I'll end my turn!"

Trap-Heavy Decks are impossible to counter, because you can never confirm what kind of trap the opponent is using. And since you can't counter them, you might as well join them. I'll just go for a T-Set!

[Hayato: 4000 LP, Hand 0]

[Set Monster]

[Set Card] **[Nightmare's Mirage]**

"You keep complaining about how everyone from the Tomb Keepers plays Trap-Heavy Decks, but aren't you doing the same, Brother-in-law?!" Marik muttered from the side. "Or have you already counted yourself as part of the Tomb Keepers?"

Hayato just rolled his eyes at Marik and ignored him. Although Geb's expression was as calm as before, Hayato felt like his expression seemed even worse.

"My Turn, Draw." From his Deck, Geb Drew a Card and Added it to his Hand. He glanced at the five Face-Down Cards on Hayato's Field and gave a cold snort. "Hmph, you seized the advantage of the first turn but don't even dare to make a further play?"

"Just necessary caution, Mr. Geb."

Hayato felt his operation was fine. Blindly making a play without knowing the opponent's Deck was a lesson he learned the first time he Dueled Dartz. When Geb said that to him, Hayato felt like he was picking bones out of an egg, trying to find fault where there was none. "During the opponent's Standby Phase, the effect of **[Nightmare's Mirage]** activates. I Draw Cards from my Deck until my Hand has four Cards."

As he spoke, Hayato Drew Cards from his Deck. His Hand, which had been completely consumed last turn, instantly recovered to four Cards.

"Drawing so many Cards in one go must come with a cost, right?" Geb asked, looking at Hayato's four Cards in Hand.

Hayato nodded. "That is indeed the case. After all, powerful cards are often accompanied by great risk. During my Standby Phase, I will also need to Discard the number of Cards Drawn due to the effect of **[Nightmare's Mirage]**."

Geb nodded, his tone still not very friendly towards Hayato. "In that case, cherish that effect while you can, because next you won't be able to use Spell/Trap Cards."

Taking a Card from his Hand and inserting it into his Golden Duel Disk, Geb looked at the Card that appeared on his Back Row and waved his Hand, giving an order. "I activate Spell Card **[Dark Hole]**! This Card can only be activated at the start of the Main Phase. Until my next Draw Phase, neither player can use the effects of Spell/Trap Cards, nor can they activate or Set Spell/Trap Cards!"

"Nani?" Hayato frowned upon hearing this.

The effect of **[Dark Hole]** is, in the end, quite straightforward: it locks both players from using Spell and Trap Cards. And it would last until the end of Hayato's next turn. During this time, both players could only battle with monsters.

It looks like it's quite fair? But don't forget, Hayato currently has five Set Cards on his Back Row waiting to be activated. If **[Dark Hole]** successfully activates, Hayato would be the one who suffers the most.

"Useless useless! Chain **[Dark Hole]**, I open the Set Card on my Spell/Trap Zone!" Seeing the freezing air released from Geb's activated **[Dark Hole]** about to sweep across the Field, Hayato pressed the activate Set Card button and waved his Hand, flipping over a Card on his Spell/Trap Zone. "Continuous Trap Card **[Imperial Order]**! Negate the effects of all Spell Cards on the Field!"

"By divine decree, I order you to retreat!"

A human figure phantom rose behind Hayato. With a wave of its Hand, the freezing air released by Geb's **[Dark Hole]** was instantly dispelled.

While **[Imperial Order]** is on the Field, the effects of both Hayato's and Geb's Spell Cards will be negated. Although it has the restriction of needing to Pay 700 LP during each player's Standby Phase to maintain it, it's better than having Trap Cards also locked by **[Dark Hole]**.

Not only that, because of the effect of **[Imperial Order]**, the effect of the Continuous Spell Card **[Nightmare's Mirage]** currently on Hayato's Field was also negated. This was a good thing for Hayato, as he had already enjoyed its positive effect. Negating **[Nightmare's Mirage]** allowed him to avoid the negative effect next turn.

Geb also saw this and said annoyed, "Tsk, not only do you lack the courage for a play, you don't even have the resolve to bear the negative effect? What a terrible man. Since all Spell Cards on the Field are negated, I Normal Summon this monster!"

As Geb placed a Card on his Duel Disk, golden flames ignited on his Field, and a figure appeared bathed in the flames. Gold was forged into form-fitting armor worn on its body, the long sword in his Hand resembled a feather of a divine bird, and its long silver hair and white skin with flame-like orange patterns fluttered in the firelight with the wind.

**[Protector of Nephthys]** [Level 2☆/WIND]

[Spellcaster Type/Effect]

[1400/200]

"[Nephthys]?" Yugi said, somewhat surprised, looking at the monster Geb used. "That's one of the nine deities of Heliopolis, right?"

"The guardian of Houses and the dead, and like Ishizu, also a goddess of fertility. But you know, the Ishizu I'm talking about isn't my Older Sister, it's the goddess Ishizu," Marik muttered casually. "Actually, many people in the Tomb Keepers reference the names of gods from mythology when naming themselves. My Father's name is taken from the God of Earth, Geb."

"In the Heliopolis nine-deity system, the God of Sky, Nut, and the God of Earth, Geb, fell in love and combined, giving birth to Osiris, Seto, Ishizu, and Nephthys, who is the prototype for the Cards my Father uses."

"One thing worth mentioning is that although I never defeated my Older Sister even once in my childhood, even she never defeated Father once. Unlike the goddess in mythology, the [Nephthys] my Father uses possesses powerful 'destruction' power."

Marik didn't need to continue explaining. After Normal Summoning **[Protector of Nephthys]**, Geb revealed another Card from his Hand. "During my Main Phase, I activate the effect of **[Protector of Nephthys]** on the Field! I select one Card in my Hand and destroy it, then Special Summon one [Nephthys] monster with Level 4☆ or lower, other than **[Protector of Nephthys]**, from my Hand."

"I destroy **[Disciple of Nephthys]** in my Hand! Rebirth from destruction! Special Summon **[Devotee of Nephthys]** with Level 2☆ from my Hand!"

As Geb played the Card from his Hand, a female cleric wearing golden armor and covering her head with a white cloak appeared on his Field. However, the cleric only appeared for an instant before sacred golden flames suddenly ignited around her, engulfing her. A graceful dancer wearing golden armor and stepping on the ignited flames appeared.

**[Devotee of Nephthys]** [Level 2☆/WIND]

[Spellcaster Type/Effect]

[600/600]

Able to summon two monsters in one go? Identified as Terrortop!

Hayato looked at the two monsters on Geb's Field and said, "Although you consumed your Hand down to two Cards after that operation, you only Summoned two Small Fry monsters with ATK not exceeding 1500 Points. But since **[Protector of Nephthys]** has the ability to call other monsters, just by the name, **[Devotee of Nephthys]** can probably be guessed to have the power to guide some powerful monster to appear, right?"

Although Hayato actually knew the effect of **[Devotee of Nephthys]** and even the [Nephthys] Deck itself, if he had the condition, who wouldn't want to show off? Acting like he was making a deduction and saying out an effect he already knew was super cool, right?

As expected, upon hearing Hayato's words, Geb showed a slight expression of surprise. "You can actually guess the effect of my monster? Hmph, so many thoughts and such deep calculations, you're indeed not a good person."

"But can you stop me? Here it comes, the strongest monster in my Deck will descend at this moment!" Geb waved his Hand forward fiercely. "The effect of **[Devotee of Nephthys]**! By Tributing one monster on my Field and **[Devotee of Nephthys]** itself, I can activate this effect! Special Summon one **[Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys]** from my Hand or Deck!"

As Geb gave the order, **[Devotee of Nephthys]** and **[Protector of Nephthys]** on his Field simultaneously straightened their arms and raised them above their heads, performing the action of praising the sun. The flames around them surged like a tide, turning into a towering fire tornado.

Geb took out a Card from his Deck and held it above his head, shouting:

"Surging flames, with the power of destruction and regeneration, awaken true power! Resurrect! The immortal body divine bird that soars through the heavens!"

**[Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys]**!"

From the rising flames, the golden armor previously worn by the two monsters melted and was reforged into the body of a massive divine bird. The flames integrated into this golden body. The divine bird, born from the sky-high flames, fiercely flapped its wings, shaking off the flames wrapped around its body and revealing its majestic figure!

**[Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys]** [Level 8☆/FIRE]

[Winged Beast Type/Effect]

[2400/1600]

And after Summoning **[Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys]**, Geb barely hesitated and immediately waved his Hand, giving an order. "Enter my Battle Phase! Use **[Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys]** to attack the Set monster on your Field!"

"Divine Fire: Shiranui!"

Hearing Geb's order, **[Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys]** in the sky cried out, then swooped down towards the Ground. Although it was a Winged Beast, it had a pair of arms. Currently, it held a pulsating fireball in each Hand. As it swooped down, the fireballs elongated in the air, forming a pair of flame spears that it thrust towards the Card Set on Hayato's Field!

"Boom!"

Although the ATK of **[Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys]** was embarrassingly low for a Level 8☆ monster, far from comparable to the conventionally compared **[Blue-Eyes White Dragon]**, and only equal to the **[Red-Eyes Black Dragon]** which is one Level lower. However, a Higher-Level monster is still a Higher-Level monster. Its ATK easily broke through Hayato's Set monster...

It wasn't destroyed!?

The Set Card covering the monster's figure was blasted away by the flame spears, revealing a small pink bird wearing shoes hiding beneath the Card. The small bird was currently trembling, and only slowly raised its head, realizing that because it was so small, it was incredibly lucky to be located between the flame spears thrust out by **[Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys]** and wasn't hit!

**[Little Beeper]** [Level 1☆/EARTH]

[Winged Beast Type/Effect]

[300/300]

"That monster, its ATK and DEF are so weak, why?" Geb asked, somewhat confused, looking at the pale **[Little Beeper]**.

"Heh heh, of course, it's because my **[Little Beeper]** has fearless courage that can even surpass life and death. The stronger the monster, the more it can inspire its courage."

(**[Little Beeper]**: I don't!)

Hayato explained, "Although it's only a Level 1☆ monster, **[Little Beeper]** has the ability to not be battle destroyed by monsters with 1900 ATK or more. Summoning **[Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys]** with higher attack power was precisely your mistake."

If Geb hadn't used the effect of **[Devotee of Nephthys]** to Special Summon **[Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys]**, with the two monsters on his Field at the time having ATK not exceeding 1500 Points, either one could have easily broken through **[Little Beeper]'s** defense and then direct attack Hayato to inflict damage. But by switching to **[Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys]** with higher attack power, he was instead unable to break through **[Little Beeper]**.

Furthermore, because **[Little Beeper]** was in Defense Position and **[Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys]** didn't have piercing damage ability, Hayato didn't even take a single point of damage.

Looking at the **[Little Beeper]** on Hayato's Field, Geb stubbornly insisted, "Although it has resistance to battle destruction, that's only against monsters with 1900 ATK or more. In my next turn, I can just Summon any monster and destroy it. You saved your skin, Hayato Kobayashi."

Drawing a Card from his Hand and Setting it on his Back Row, Geb said with helplessness, "Set a Card, I end turn."

[Geb: 4000 LP, Hand 1]

**[Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys]** [ATK 2400]

[Set Card]

"Hold on, wait a moment. At this instant, I activate the Set Card on my Spell/Trap Zone." The moment Geb declared his end turn, Hayato pressed the activate Set Card button. "I activate this Set Card---"
