Chapter 271: Spell Shield Type-8? Then You're Finished
"Fusion Summon, [Quintet Magician]!"
The expansion of the invisible Magic Power covering the surroundings was halted in an instant. As the image in the mirror appearing on Hayato's Field spun, the Magic Power was swallowed by the Vortex.
"Wh-what?! My Power is being...!" Hesiod felt the connection between [Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder] and himself suddenly cut off, a look of panic appearing on his face. "How dare you take the Power of a God!"
"Calling yourself a God while holding things plundered from others, what kind of God is that?" The surging tide of Magic Power calmed down. [Quintet Magician], with a calm expression, walked out from the mirror of [Quintet Magician (Spell)], dragging a Magic Orb bound by a Magic Circle in its hand.
The "[Three Sacred Beasts]" Cards seem to have a common characteristic: during a Duel, they continuously absorb Life Force from the surroundings, then pour that Power into the user's body, and use this Magic Power as a medium to subtly alter the controller's mental state.
Compared to Haga, Hesiod was clearly more affected. Despite being quite cold and arrogant during his Duel with Manjoume Shouji just now, after Summoning [Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder] in his Duel against Hayato, he became extremely arrogant and radical.
He was practically like Shinken Gold Master Logos from Kamen Rider Solomon.
Regarding Hesiod's situation, Hayato felt he should directly cut off the source of his Power — having [Quintet Magician], who had the strongest Control over Magic Power, seize Control of the surrounding Magic Power from [Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder].
The Magic Orb in his hand was actually the Life Force that [Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder] had absorbed from the surrounding Duelists and Card Spirits during the preceding period.
"When successfully Fusion Summoned using five different [Spellcaster Type] Monsters as Fusion Material, [Quintet Magician]'s Effect Activates." Hayato stated [Quintet Magician]'s Effect, but then sighed. "But unfortunately, there were two identical [Newt] among the Fusion Material just now, so this Effect cannot Activate. It's all Bakura's fault."
The reason Hayato said that was because one of the two [Newt] Cards in his Deck was actually swiped from Bakura.
"However, even if the Effect cannot Activate, [Quintet Magician]'s Power is more than enough to deal with you." As he spoke, Hayato drew two Cards and Activated them on the Field. "Speaking of which, it's been a while since I used this combo."
"Continuous Spell Card [Toll] and Equip Spell Card [Megamorph], Activate!"
A Stone Tablet merged into [Quintet Magician]'s body, but since both players' Life Points were currently the same, it didn't Take Effect for now.

"Th-this is bad!" Hesiod's eyes widened. He watched as [Quintet Magician], after paying the Toll, moved towards his side of the Field. With a raised hand, the Life Force-aggregated Magic Orb passed through five Magic Circles in succession, charging towards [Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder]!
"Tangible cold, Water; intangible cold, Wind; tangible heat, EARTH; intangible heat, Fire. And, the fifth Element, Aether." The usually silent [Quintet Magician] spoke up for once. "Learn well what the Magic of the Five Great Elements is like. Allow me to show you, my LIGHT Attribute—"
Seeing the Magic Orb about to hit [Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder], Hesiod knew clearly that if this Attack went through, he would be finished; his Life Points would be instantly wiped out!
What reassured him was that last Turn, just to be safe, he had Set a Card. "You want to defeat me just like that? Useless!"
"Activate my Set Card, [Spell Shield Type-8]!"
Just a moment away from [Quintet Magician]'s Attack crushing [Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder], [Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder], still recovering from the threat of death with a look of terror, stared blankly at the spherical shield that suddenly appeared before it.
[Quintet Magician]'s Attack was quickly absorbed by the shield, and the Magic Power contained within the Attack was entirely converted into Hesiod's Life Points!

Feeling the incredibly surging Life Force within him, Hesiod cried out excitedly, "[Spell Shield Type-8]'s Effect is to Negate one of your Monster's Attack Declarations, and then I Recover Life Points equal to the Monster's ATK."
"It seems you're still slightly inferior to me, King of Games."
Hayato looked at [Spell Shield Type-8], which was still protecting [Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder], and couldn't help but sigh. "Honestly, you should talk to the other Duelists I've defeated."
"I think they'd tell you that even using [Sakuretsu Armor], which can never Activate, would be better than using [Spell Shield Type-8]."
The only remaining Set Card on Hayato's Backrow flipped open, revealing its true form — [Double Attack].
"When my Monster's Attack is Negated, this Card can be Activated. That's [Double Attack]'s Effect." Hayato snapped his fingers. "It doubles the ATK of the Monster whose Attack was Negated, and then gives it one more Opportunity to Attack again."
"N-Nani?!"
Under Hesiod's astonished gaze, the ATK of [Quintet Magician], whose Attack was Negated, began to soar at an astonishing speed.
