Chapter 405
Chapter 401: The Outcome Is Decided
2024-05-15 Author: Samsung Charmander
“Use Snarl!!”
Two thunderous roars exploded from opposite ends of the battle arena. Both Incineroar and Arcanine opened their mouths wide, their expressions ferocious and their teeth sharp. The sound waves they bellowed were so powerful they took on a physical form, clashing like ripples of energy.
“ROAR!!”
The roars were incessant. For a moment, it was as if the entire battle arena was filled with nothing but these two sounds.
Everyone in the audience instinctively clamped their hands over their ears, their heads ringing as if being relentlessly struck by a giant hammer.
The terrifying sound waves, accompanied by Dark-type energy, clashed continuously. This forced both Incineroar and Arcanine, still roaring, to take half a step back. Their pupils then constricted, and they stomped their hind legs fiercely on the ground, unleashing the power of Snarl toward their opponent once more.
“Arcanine!!”
Green’s voice reached its ears, and Arcanine’s expression changed. Its back arched fiercely, its lion-like face becoming even more savage. In an instant, the power behind its roar increased threefold. The sudden surge of energy broke through Incineroar’s Snarl, overwhelming it in a one-sided fashion.
“Roar…”
This sudden, explosive Snarl was too much for Incineroar to withstand. It couldn’t help but stumble back several steps, a grim expression on its tiger-like face.
This was the first time it had ever lost a contest of roars.
“It actually lost...?”
The Masked Man’s expression shifted. Incineroar… to think it would actually lose a roaring contest today?
A sense of shame and anger welled up in the Masked Man’s heart. He took the offensive at the start of the next turn.
“Incineroar, use Throat Chop!!”
Incineroar immediately began to run, one of its tiger-clawed arms coated in a terrifying mantle of black energy, its tip incredibly sharp. Within a few breaths, it had charged in front of Arcanine, its aura intimidating.
*Swish!*
Its Throat Chop stabbed at the target, only to pierce right through it. It was merely an afterimage left behind by Arcanine.
At that moment, Arcanine had completely vanished from the battle arena. Only faint sounds and a dim, cyan light could be detected.
Extreme Speed!
“So fast…”
The Masked Man blurted out. He recognized the move Extreme Speed, but you should at least be able to see a blur. What kind of Extreme Speed makes the user completely invisible?
*Whoosh, whoosh…*
Arcanine flashed about with Extreme Speed. Incineroar wasn't fast enough and could only look around helplessly, trying to find any trace of its target.
“Incineroar, use Darkest Lariat on the spot! Meet change with constancy!”
The Masked Man’s words gave Incineroar an anchor. It immediately raised its arms and began to spin wildly in place, its body shrouded in a red-and-black energy cloak that resembled flame.
“Hmph, Arcanine!” Green just gave a disdainful smile and snapped his fingers.
The next second, Arcanine’s figure suddenly appeared in one of Incineroar’s blind spots, cloaked in cyan light, and then charged forward.
*CRACK!!*
Arcanine had precisely targeted a weak point in the Darkest Lariat. A single Extreme Speed perfectly broke through its opponent's stance, sending Incineroar flying several meters.
Extreme Speed, a move like a divine miracle.
Only then did Arcanine reveal its form again, standing silently on all fours on the ground. Its lion-like head was raised, its gaze arrogant, looking down on Incineroar.
“Roar…”
A few seconds later, Incineroar climbed back up from the ground, one knee still on the ground. Large drops of sweat dripped from its tiger-like head as it panted heavily.
Its Ability wasn’t Water Absorb. The attacks from Surf and Hydro Pump had already caused considerable damage, to say nothing of the subsequent barrage from this powerful Arcanine.
“I can’t drag this on. It’s time to decide the outcome.” The Masked Man’s expression turned grim. His aura changed, becoming incredibly sharp. He then suddenly threw a punch forward and shouted at the top of his lungs:
“Incineroar, use a final Flare Blitz!!”
“Tig-ROAR!!”
Upon hearing the command, Incineroar roared at the sky. It crossed its claws in front of its chest as a golden-yellow flame erupted around its body. The temperature was extremely high, and a terrifying amount of energy gathered around it. For a moment, the air in the entire battle arena grew heavy.
“Hmph, not bad for a little Arcanine. Not only did you steal my Snarl, you’re even stealing Flare Blitz…”
Green’s voice made the Masked Man’s face change. The next second, the large, orange, lion-like dog before him also erupted with a similar golden-yellow flame, gathering an equally terrifying amount of power.
“ROAR!!”
“ROAR!!”
Two roars sounded out as the tiger and the dog, both burning with incredibly intense flames, kicked off the ground and charged toward each other at the same time.
The fearsome flame energy even burned a charred black trail into the ground along their path.
“BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!!”
Flare Blitz versus Flare Blitz!!
In the blink of an eye, the two collided. Both flame energy and physical strength were contained within their respective Flare Blitzes. Scorching flames shot toward the sky as rolling waves of heat blasted outward, and a suffocating pressure made it difficult to breathe.
“BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!!”
Within the flame energy, Incineroar’s gaze tightened. It used all its strength to slam into Arcanine’s head, and the latter did the same. The two were evenly matched in strength, and for a moment, they were locked in a stalemate.
The next second, Green raised a hand to cover one of his eyes, his whole body trembling as he laughed maniacally. As if possessed, he spoke in a tone like that of a great villainous demon king, inspiring fear in all who heard it.
“Hahaha! Arcanine, show this little Arcanine your true power!!”
As he finished speaking, Arcanine’s pupils constricted. Every part of its body and limbs exerted force simultaneously, instantly erupting with power. The power and flame of its Flare Blitz surged by more than double, and it smashed through Incineroar’s Flare Blitz as if it were rotten wood!
“How is this possible!?”
The Masked Man’s eyes widened. At the center of the clash, Incineroar felt a force like mountains and seas wash over it. It was completely unable to resist. It was a sense of powerlessness bordering on despair…
“BOOM! BOOM! PUFF!!”
The scorching flames continued to burn mercilessly, engulfing the entire battle arena and setting off a terrifying explosion…
A minute later, the flames, smoke, and dust dissipated.
Appearing in everyone’s line of sight was the once incomparably majestic Incineroar, now collapsed on the ground. But it had not yet lost its ability to battle; it was struggling frantically.
And a large, lion-like dog stood on Incineroar’s body. No matter how the latter struggled, it couldn’t move an inch.
“AWOOO!!”
Its lion eyes looked down upon the tiger beneath it. It opened its mouth and let out a roar that exploded like thunder. That terrifying aura finally made Incineroar stop struggling.
The outcome was decided.
“That’s enough. Return, Arcanine.”
To everyone’s surprise, Green suddenly raised his Poké Ball and recalled it.
