Chapter 399: Hydro Cannon vs. Blast Burn!

2024-05-15 Author: Samsung Charmander (Author Name)

Gary's expression changed, but he wasn't at the point of certain defeat. He suddenly took the initiative to attack.

"In that case, Blastoise, use the move you're best at!"

Blastoise understood. It stomped its hind legs on the ground, focused its energy, and a strange blue light flashed in its eyes.

"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh..."

Instantly, a current of water surged from the ground beneath its feet, its volume continuously increasing. In a short moment, it formed a three to four-meter-high wave. Blastoise rode atop the crest, carrying this massive wave as it charged toward its target.

Surf!

Gary often stood on Blastoise's shell to use Surf and impress girls at the beach, so he was extremely familiar with this move.

"Splash, splash, splash."

The enormous wave surged forward, turning nearly half the field into a tide. The standard field had no cover, and Incineroar couldn't fly. Masked Man simply took a step to the side and commanded in a low voice:

"Incineroar, block it head-on! Use Bulk Up!"

As the giant wave approached, Incineroar showed no fear, taking a stance to face the enemy directly.

"RAWRR!"

It let out a furious roar as its body tensed. Its firm pectoral and bicep muscles bulged as if they were about to burst, and a fiery red aura of energy erupted from around its body.

"Zing—"

Several red lights shone on its body, indicating a significant increase in its Attack and Defense.

The next second, the towering, fierce wave crashed down, completely engulfing its body. Its figure stood in stark contrast to the massive wave.

It's super effective!

"Hmph—"

Incineroar let out a muffled grunt, but its black-and-red form remained standing in a cross-armed stance. Its eyes were resolute and fearless. It didn't even blink as the water slammed against it, standing like an unyielding sculpture.

"Whoosh—"

Soon, the water receded. Aside from being a bit damp, the field showed no signs of the giant wave. Blastoise landed back on the field floor.

Incineroar stood there quietly with its arms crossed, letting water droplets drip slowly from its fur, its gaze unwavering.

"That's impossible..."

"The level difference must be huge..."

"I'm an old-timer from Alola. Incineroar's durability has always been ridiculous."

Many in the audience couldn't help but murmur in astonishment.

This fierce tiger's stance was enough to shatter Gary's composure, and his expression changed drastically.

*Damn it, it took a Surf and a Hydro Pump and still hasn't gone down? Is that even a real Fire-type?!*

In the current situation, Incineroar didn't even look like it was on its last legs, but his own Blastoise was panting heavily. The scorching, overwhelming pressure from the opponent was putting it under immense psychological stress.

Gary's pupils shrank. If he couldn't take down Incineroar in one fell swoop now, the outcome of this battle would be sealed.

*I can't drag this out. I have to use the move Grandpa taught me...*

Although he wasn't particularly skilled with that move, using it wouldn't be a problem. Gary glanced up at the sky. The rain was just about to stop; the rainy weather would probably end on the next turn.

This was the last chance!

With no more hesitation, Gary roared, his face twisting with exertion. "Blastoise, use Hydro Cannon with maximum power!"

"KAME!"

Blastoise lowered its body, leveling the cannons on its back with the ground. A terrifying and immense Water-type energy began to gather at the dark openings.

The next second, two streams of water shot out from the cannons. At this moment, they looked less like water and more like two beams of grayish-white energy.

"BOOM! BOOM!"

The Hydro Cannon shot forward with immense force. Along its path, it carved a long trench of shattered rock into the ground below. This was the strongest Water-type ultimate move. Gary was confident that a direct hit would either defeat the opponent or leave it critically injured!

*This guy learned it that fast?*

Ash, in the audience, was slightly startled. Professor Oak had only just given the three of them the three ultimate TMs, and Gary had already mastered his.

His gaze then turned straight ahead, curious as to how Masked Man would defend against it.

Unexpectedly, Masked Man also threw a punch forward and yelled loudly, "Incineroar, let's use Blast Burn too!"

This sentence made both Ash's and Gary's faces change drastically.

They all knew the three ultimate moves: for Water-types, it was Hydro Cannon, and for Fire-types, it was Blast Burn.

Incineroar was also a starter Pokémon!

"RAWRR!"

Incineroar leaped forward and roared at the sky, violently thrusting its abdomen forward. At this moment, the energy in its flame belt had accumulated to its peak, even emitting smoke as if it were about to explode.

"BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!"

A deep red flame, like magma, spewed forth. Much like the Hydro Cannon, this move no longer resembled a physical flame but rather pure, crimson energy. It emanated a terrifying pressure. The temperature of the entire field instantly soared, and even the dark clouds in the sky dispersed.

The rainy weather ended.

"BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!"

Hydro Cannon and Blast Burn collided. A terrifying explosion instantly erupted at the center of the field. Waves of energy erupted in a chaotic storm, forcing the nearby Gary to stumble back several steps. He squinted, his eyes fixed on the scene before him.

"BOOM! BOOM!"

The explosive energy shot into the sky before blasting out toward both Pokémon.

"Kame..."

Blastoise was immediately thrown back several meters by the scorching energy. Several new scorch marks appeared on the front of its shell; the damage was significant.

"ROAR!"

But Incineroar once again tanked the blow with its body. After the Bulk Up, its muscles bulged. It stood unmoving amidst the energy storm, its expression unchanged.

...

When the smoke and dust completely settled, the tortoise and the tiger on the field were still standing firm, seven or eight meters apart. They stared intently at each other, but neither made a move.

"Are they both unable to move?" Professor Oak wiped away his sweat, unable to stop himself from speaking.

These two ultimate moves were immensely powerful, but their only side effect was that the user would enter an immobile state after use.

"The winner is about to be decided. The key now is who moves first..."

The crowd quickly locked their gazes on the field, holding their breath, not daring to lose focus for even a second.

"Move, come on, move! Blastoise, use Hydro Pump!"

On the field, Gary was anxiously shouting instructions from behind. Blastoise's eyes were narrowed as it desperately tried to move its body, its entire shell trembling from the excessive exertion.

*Crack.*

Finally, it moved first.

Incineroar's gaze sharpened. It tilted its head, and the sound of grinding bones was audible. There was nothing in its eyes but fiery battle intent.

A smile appeared on Masked Man's lips. He formed his fingers into a piercing shape and then roared, "It's over! Use Throat Chop!"

"RAWRR!"

Incineroar immediately dashed forward at a considerable speed. As it ran, it formed its right paw into a piercing strike, which was then covered in a thick coat of black energy. It thrust straight toward its still-immobile target.

"Kame!"

At that moment, Blastoise's eyes focused. It had also regained its mobility and was about to withdraw into its shell to dodge.

"STAB!"

However, Throat Chop was clearly faster. A black light flashed, and the sharp thrust stabbed directly into the soft flesh between Blastoise's head and its shell—the weakest point in Blastoise's defense.

A critical hit!

Intense Dark-type energy erupted, followed by the force of the thrust. Blastoise could only widen its eyes, watching helplessly at the red-and-black tiger before it.

With the strike finished, Incineroar retracted its paw, dissipating the dark energy from it in a clean and decisive motion.

"Thud—"

The next second, Blastoise collapsed to the ground.
