Chapter 1196: The Caliber of the Legendary Trainer!

The next day, LaRousse City was operating as usual.
However, most people hadn't slept much last night.
The dragon's roar from the previous night had thundered for the entire night, a deafening sound that reached everyone's ears.
The supreme, furious intent in it made everyone's heart tremble, almost bringing them to their knees.
Just what kind of Pokémon could produce such a roar?!
Ash, however, was full of energy, his complexion quite rosy.
To him, that furious dragon roar was like nature's most beautiful light music, even possessing a unique, tranquilizing effect that helped him sleep soundly.
After all, he had already gone wild with a Mega Rayquaza before.
Now, hearing a dragon roar from a thousand miles away...
"That's it?"
This was Ash's only thought.
He did, however, recognize it as Rayquaza's cry, though he didn't know if it was the one he knew.
*Why is it so angry? Is it battling some fearsome monster?*
"Whatever. Today's the last battle. After this, I'll find the white stone and go home!"
Ash gathered his thoughts and headed toward the Battle Tower.
Inside the Battle Tower, in the most spacious battle hall.
The dragon's all-night roaring had not extinguished the crowd's passion. The Spectator Stands were still filled tier after tier, and the cheers and applause roared like a tsunami, never ceasing for a moment.
When the appointed time arrived, Ash was already standing at one end of the Battle Arena.
On the other side was that elegant middle-aged man—the Sootopolis Gym Leader, Juan!
"Mr. Juan, I'm eager to see your battle style."
In the Spectator Stands, the local Ash's eyes were wide, staring intently at the Battle Arena.
This was a man he, too, would have to face later.
As for the Tobias on the other side...
The local Ash was even more curious about what Pokémon he would send out today.
How would the situation unfold against a powerful Gym Leader?
He had heard that Mr. Juan's disciple was none other than the current strongest Trainer in the Hoenn Region—the League Champion, Wallace!
His strength was far beyond that of an ordinary Gym Leader!
And on the stage, wearing the glasses gifted by Mewtwo, no one recognized Ash's appearance.
Before the Referee robot could speak, he suddenly spoke up first:
"Mr. Juan, let's treat this battle as a Gym Challenge. Please wager your Sootopolis Gym Badge!"
These words made Juan pause for a moment.
He had prepared a Mystic Water as a final gift... it seemed that wouldn't be necessary now.
But for someone with the latter's strength to still be challenging Gyms and the League Conference?
How had he never heard his colleagues mention the appearance of such a monster?
"If that's the case, as you wish!"
Mr. Juan smiled, and with a flip of his hand, a triangular badge formed by three stacked water drops appeared in his palm—the Water Drop Badge!
Fortunately, he carried a spare badge with him.
"However, since you've decided the stakes... I shall be the one to decide the battle rules."
Juan then snapped his fingers slowly and announced:
"This exhibition match will be a 2v2 Double Battle, with the outcome decided in a single match!"
"A Double Battle?"
Ash's eyebrows rose at the words, but he quickly agreed.
As long as he was willing to give the badge, it was fine!
"In that case, allow me to show you our art—the Water's Splendid Mirage, sculpted by myself and my Pokémon~!"
Juan gave an elegant bow, delivering his pre-battle banter as if this were a Pokémon Contest.
With a gentle toss of his hand, he was the first to send out his two Pokémon.
Poof! Poof!
On one side was a large, blue sea lion with a plump body. White fur, like crashing waves, draped over its head, and two massive ivory tusks extended from its mouth.
On the other side was an exceptionally beautiful sea serpent. Its long, slender, pale-yellow body was coiled up. Above its gentle eyes were two long, thin eyebrow-whiskers, and long, ribbon-like red fins fell from its sides.
The tail end of its body was covered in blue and pink variegated scales, and the overlapping blue-and-pink scales at the tip fanned out like a small fan.
"These two Pokémon are..."
Ash quickly pulled out his Pokédex. Both Pokémon looked a bit unfamiliar.
But the second Pokémon was so exceptionally beautiful that he more or less already knew it was the evolved form of Feebas.
"Beep. Walrein, the Ice Break Pokémon. A Water- and Ice-type. Its giant tusks can shatter solid ice, and its thick blubber can withstand the cold of winter and even repel an enemy's attack."
"Beep. Milotic, the Tender Pokémon. A Water-type. It evolves from Feebas and is called the most beautiful Pokémon. It possesses a mysterious power that can quell conflict."
The Pokédex dutifully introduced the two before him.
"Walrein and Milotic, huh..."
Ash didn't dare to be careless. As expected of the final Water-type Gym, both looked very strong.
Moreover, his opponent had specifically proposed a Double Battle, which might mean they had some exquisite coordination...
"Then, I choose you!"
Ash flipped his hand, first sending out the lively, bouncing Regieleki.
Bzzzt!
The filament-like currents of electrical energy extending from its arms and lower limbs instantly caused the two Water-type Pokémon on the other side to shrink back, their gazes filled with a hint of caution.
This strange, hopping opponent before them possessed terrifying electric power.
As for the second one...
Ash had originally planned to send out Sceptile, as its Grass type would have a good offensive advantage.
But for some reason, he switched to another Poké Ball.
"I'm leaving after this match anyway..."
*If that's the case, I might as well let the name 'Tobias' become a legend, one that will be passed down here forever!*
Ash's eyes shone brightly as he threw out the second Poké Ball.
Poof!
A flash of red light, and an enormous, brownish lion-beast appeared on the stage.
It raised its head, its face covered by a majestic, tri-colored mask, and its back was covered with several silver spikes.
Its gray mane, flowing backward, was like a volcano it carried on its back, constantly spewing thick volcanic smoke.
Entei!!
"Rooaaar...!!!"
Entei's low roar upon appearing sent a jolt through every spectator, their eyes nearly popping out of their sockets.
"Is that Entei?!"
"It's... it's another Legendary Pokémon?!"
"Just how many Legendary Pokémon does he have?!"
The entire arena once again erupted into a tremendous frenzy.
Is this the caliber of the Legendary Trainer?!
And for Juan, who was closest, his expression became incomparably grave.
Facing two Legendary Pokémon at once... the pressure this put on him was also immense.
One possessed super-strong electric power, and the other...
Although he had never battled it, a single glance was enough to know the boundless strength contained within its body.
In that instant, a thought similar to the one the local Ash had yesterday flashed through Juan's mind.
"At the very least... I must take down one of them."
