Chapter 1127: Lilycove Department Store

2024-05-15 Author: Samsung Charmander (Author Name)

Lilycove City, a coastal city situated on the easternmost edge of the Hoenn continent.

It was once the largest city in the entire Hoenn Region, but in recent years, its scale has been surpassed by Mauville City's development, and it now ranks second.

Even so, it remains a major city with an endless stream of tourists. Even its Pokémon Center is three or four times larger than those in other places.

"What a shame, there's no Gym here."

In the Pokémon Center's public cafeteria, Ash and his three companions were leisurely eating breakfast.

The fact that such a large city didn't have a single Gym left Ash feeling like he had all this power with nowhere to unleash it.

This was a port city, with a long, sandy coastline on its eastern side. The ships at the dock even provided direct routes to other regions.

"Let's go to the Pokémon Contest Hall in Lilycove City this afternoon~!"

Blue said, waving a promotional flyer in her hand.

A Pokémon Contest was scheduled to be held here tomorrow.

Lilycove City seemed to be the headquarters for Pokémon Contests in the Hoenn Region. Its Contest Hall was renowned worldwide.

"And I heard there's a special device here for making Pokéblocks. The Pokéblocks it creates are incredibly beneficial for Pokémon~!"

Blue continued her introduction, having apparently done her homework well in advance.

Her Feebas was having trouble evolving, and rumor had it these Pokéblocks were related to its evolution.

"Something like that exists?"

As outsiders, Ash and Brock immediately showed their curiosity.

Even Sawyer, a local resident, only had a partial understanding of it.

He was the same type of person as Ash, focusing only on information related to Trainers. He didn't pay much attention to things like Pokémon Contests.

Having eaten their fill, the group immediately packed up, deciding to go check out this largest of Contest Halls.

The weather wasn't changing wildly like when the group first arrived yesterday. Instead, the sky was dim and overcast, with a fine, drizzling rain.

Even though it was high noon, it was as dark as dusk.

Talking and laughing, the group walked along the street under their umbrellas. From time to time, they could see a few Wingull flying into the city from the coast, swooping past them at low altitudes.

"Huh?"

But as they were walking, a figure suddenly caught Ash's attention, and his feet unconsciously came to a halt.

"What's wrong?"

His companions asked, puzzled.

That familiar figure quickly flashed past on an adjacent street, disappearing into the rain.

"If I'm not mistaken..."

Ash's gaze sharpened, and he wondered to himself.

He immediately made up his mind, turning to chase in the direction the figure had gone.

"You guys go on ahead to the Contest Hall. I'll be right back!"

After saying that, Ash chased after the figure and quickly vanished from the others' sight.

"?"

While they didn't quite understand, Ash had a habit of running off, so the group didn't dwell on it. They continued on their way, chatting about Pokéblocks.

Meanwhile, Ash tracked the familiar figure.

Before long, he arrived in front of a skyscraper.

This seemed to be the tallest building in all of Lilycove City, standing out completely like a crane among chickens.

"This place is?"

Ash raised his head and saw a huge sign hanging in the center of the building.

Lilycove Department Store!

Seeing the sneaky figure enter the building, Ash quickly pulled his hat down low and followed.

Compared to the gloomy, rainy weather outside, the inside of the Lilycove Department Store was much livelier and bustling with people.

As the largest shopping area in the Hoenn Region, it offered an all-encompassing variety of merchandise and items, and the flow of people was endless.

But Ash was in no mood to pay attention to any of this right now; he just furtively followed the figure.

"Tsk, what's that crazy woman doing here?"

Ash couldn't help but mutter.

The figure he had suddenly spotted on the street was Zinnia, a member of the Draconid People whom he had met a few times before.

She still had that same travel-worn appearance, wearing a tattered, grayish cloak that made her seem somewhat out of place among the glamorous crowd.

"Ding~!"

Only after seeing Zinnia walk into the elevator and the doors close did Ash move in closer.

He watched the elevator's ascending numbers. It didn't stop on any of the middle floors but shot straight up to the highest number.

"The top floor...?"

Ash's curiosity was piqued. Cradling Pikachu, he quickly got into the adjacent elevator and pressed the button for the top floor.

This woman was definitely a dangerous person.

Not just to him, but to the entire Hoenn Region.

Zinnia's methods were extremely crude. Although her goal was to save the Hoenn Region from the disastrous meteorite, the approach she was taking might come at a greater cost than the Devon Corporation's space teleportation plan.

"I'll watch and see what she's up to..."

He had nothing better to do right now anyway, so he would follow her and see.

"Ding~!"

Soon, the elevator reached the top floor, and the metal doors parted.

Ash poked his head out curiously, only to find that the elevator hadn't gone directly to the building's rooftop but had stopped on an indoor floor.

However, this floor had almost no shops. It was just a spacious plaza lobby, with a few soda vending machines placed against the walls in the corners.

"That woman...?"

Ash looked left and right but saw no sign of Zinnia.

However, near the door leading to the upward staircase, he did see a familiar figure.

A pink, dazed-looking, rabbit-like creature.

"Zinnia's Whismur?"

Ash raised an eyebrow. This Pokémon wasn't as harmless as it looked; the power of its Hyper Voice was incredibly strong.

But right now, the Whismur was playing with an attendant in a department store uniform.

"Did she go upstairs?"

The staircase door behind the attendant probably led to the department store's rooftop.

Ash made a move to go up but was stopped by the attendant.

"Excuse me, little brother~ The weather in Lilycove City has been strange lately, so the rooftop is temporarily closed to the public~!"

She said with a smile.

This department store was two to three hundred meters tall. With the currently volatile weather, an open-air rooftop at this height was a dangerous place.

"What about this Pokémon..."

However, Ash just pointed at the Whismur beside her.

"?"

Hearing this, the attendant tilted her head curiously, only to see the Whismur looking at her with a puzzled expression.

By the time she turned her head back, the boy with the electric mouse on his shoulder had already disappeared.

"Did he leave?"

She didn't think much of it. Her job was just to sit here, guard the door, and play on her phone. So, she simply continued playing with this strange Whismur.

Meanwhile, Ash, who had taken the opportunity to slip up the staircase, had successfully reached the open-air rooftop.

Outside, the dim sky was still drizzling. At this extreme height, cold gusts of wind were blowing relentlessly.

But the two figures on the empty rooftop made Ash's pupils shrink, and he quickly and carefully hid behind some cover.

"How did these two end up together?"
