Chapter 105: Ash Might Be in Danger! (Third Update)
2024-05-15 Author: Samsung Charmander (Author Name)
After some Dragon Language Communication.
"Tch, not a single damn piece of information. And this guy is supposed to be a Core Executive of Team Rocket?"
Blue (manga character) tossed Lambda onto the ground as if he were a dead dog.
"He doesn't even know the password to Boss Giovanni's safe. Useless."
However, since he had spilled all the information he could, even "willingly" handing over the Team Rocket Shares he held, Blue (manga character) didn't do anything else to him. She just said, "Get the Rainbow Group out of Saffron City, now," and knocked him out.
It was worth noting that when she struck Lambda unconscious, the Fodder Team Rocket member who had been trembling behind him collapsed as well.
Blue (manga character) curled her lip, disdainful.
It was just the Puppetry Technique, something she had stopped playing with when she was three.
"Oh, I forgot to ask for the password to the Silph Co. Building."
Looking at the Control Console before her, which held all the control buttons for the entire building's Transfer Device, Blue (manga character) found it incredibly troublesome.
She turned to look at Lambda, but he was already out cold.
"Whatever. Blue, the rest is up to you~"
With that, Blue (manga character) returned control of the body to Blue, acting very much like a boss shirking responsibility.
Blue: "?"
Regaining control of her body, she shuddered. Her slender hands rubbed her round cheeks, her brow furrowed. She also couldn't make sense of the various device buttons before her.
There was no other entrance on this top floor. After hesitating for a long while, she decided to just press one and try her luck.
The Core Executive she had faced was so strong, far beyond what a Novice Trainer could handle.
And according to Lambda, there were four Core Executives in total.
Three of them had strength comparable to his, but the fourth was the most terrifying, on a completely different level than any of them.
If Ash ran into that one, he would be completely crushed.
Yes, she had to go save him. Ash must be in grave danger right now!
"Mm, my luck has always been good! The harder you work, the luckier you get!"
Blue clenched her fist, psyching herself up, then turned and pressed the most unique-looking button.
In the next second, a Warp Tile on the floor in front of her flashed with White Light.
*Swoosh!*
Then, a Spiky-Haired Youth appeared before her, scratching his head with a bewildered look on his face.
Blue: "!"
The unluckiest option, and she still managed to pick it?
"Yo, isn't it the silly girl?"
Gary quickly came to his senses. Seeing the man in the Team Rocket Uniform passed out nearby, he let out a whistle and couldn't help but tease her.
"Looks like he's an Executive, too. You beat him with your skill level? Oh, you must have fought him hand-to-hand. I guess you'd have a chance then, hehe."
Blue: "..."
Her face was expressionless. She turned and pressed that special button again.
Instantly, the Warp Tile blazed with a White Light, about to send Gary back to the Phantom 41st Floor.
"Hey, I jumped over here~"
Gary leaped sideways, landing on the adjacent Warp Tile.
*Thud!*
Blue's face was cold and impassive. She pressed the button again, and sure enough, the Warp Tile beneath his feet lit up once more.
"Hey, I jumped back again~"
*Thud!*
"Hey, I jumped out again~"
*Thud!*
"Aren't you mad? I jumped back again~"
Blue: "!"
Watching Gary hop left and right like a flea, all while striking a "come and get me" pose, she felt a vein throb on her forehead.
Unable to control the strength in her hand, she crushed the button into dust.
She took several deep breaths, forcing her brain into a state of extreme oxygen deprivation, and only then did the impulse to rush forward and take Gary down with her in a Self-Destruct slowly subside.
"Hmph, I'm not bickering with you. Ash might be in danger right now."
With that, Blue stopped looking at Gary and turned her attention back to the control screen.
"Ash...?"
Unsure if it was genuine concern or simply the lack of anyone to interact with that killed his desire to show off, Gary quickly leaned in to examine the Control Console with her.
Although Ash had that deity, Sister-in-law Red, backing him up, who knew if that blockhead would get himself taken out right at the start.
If that happened, no matter how strong Sister-in-law Red was, she'd probably just end up floating awkwardly in mid-air with the newly-made Ghost of Ash.
"Pfft..."
He couldn't help but laugh out loud at the thought.
Blue: "?"
She didn't understand what he found so funny about looking at a screen.
After a bit of fiddling, the two quickly found the Transfer Device leading to the Rooftop.
*Click!*
Blue pressed the button and, with a snickering Gary in tow, stepped onto the Warp Tile.
...
Silph Co. Building Rooftop.
At a white dining table, two people were drinking coffee.
"Archer, what's the deal with this Battle Arena and all these Spectator Seats around here?"
Ash asked slowly after taking a sip of his Cappuccino.
Since he couldn't leave for at least half an hour, he might as well stay and gather information from the man.
"I've only heard rumors myself. It's said that this place was once the battle arena for the Saffron Gym," Archer answered truthfully.
Don't be fooled by the fact that he'd gone rogue and joined Team Rocket; in his youth, wasn't he also a hot-blooded Trainer challenging Gyms?
Even their Boss, Giovanni, was said to have been a Bug Catcher Boy in his younger days.
And the rumors about the Saffron Gym were from a long time ago. It was a Gym with a long history.
Archer took a sip of coffee and said slowly, "They say that back in the day, regular Challengers would just battle at the Saffron Gym. But when the Gym Leader encountered a Trainer they acknowledged, they would choose to battle here, on the Rooftop of the Silph Co. Building."
He pointed to the white lines drawn on the ground beneath his feet.
"There are no stairs to leave this place. You rely on the Silph Co. Building's Transfer Device to get sent directly to the top floor. The Saffron Gym Leader, on the other hand, would use their Psychic Powers to Teleport here and commence the Battle with the Trainer."
Saying this, Archer pointed to the surrounding skyscrapers.
"The surrounding buildings have stairs leading up. The citizens of Saffron City would gather on the rooftops of those buildings to watch the battle. Those spectator seats were, naturally, prepared for them."
"A battle on the rooftop of a skyscraper..."
As he listened, Ash couldn't help but clench his fists. Just imagining the scene was enough to make his blood boil with excitement.
"Heh, but recently, you know, with our Rainbow Group and that crazy Sabrina, a Battle like this hasn't happened in several years..."
Archer looked a little embarrassed as he said this.
But it was all for the growth of the great Team Rocket. It was worth it!
"Speaking of which, there's something I'd like to ask of you."
Ash's gaze suddenly sharpened, and his tone grew solemn. "Can you take the Rainbow Group and leave Saffron City? This isn't a place where you should be."
Hearing this, Archer showed no surprise. He had known this question was coming.
The purpose of barging into the Silph Co. Building so aggressively was obvious.
"Should we leave?"
He posed the question to himself, but then added another question mark.
"The help of a Worldly Master, versus the Rainbow Group's control over a city. Which is more important?"
Soon, Archer had his answer.
Naturally, the Worldly Master was more important!
His goal was Team Rocket; the Rainbow Group was just a subsidiary. Abandoning it was fine.
Besides, the Rainbow Group wasn't entirely his.
It also included the Shares of Lambda, Ariana, and that other guy. If it was gone, he wouldn't be the only one to suffer a loss; everyone would.
And if everyone loses, then no one really loses.
So, the next step was to figure out how to withdraw the Rainbow Group from Saffron City without revealing that he was the wolf in sheep's clothing.
A proud smile touched his lips, as if victory was already in his grasp.
As Team Rocket's Number One Strategist, he would always find a way.
With this thought, he smiled and raised his cup, signaling a pleasant cooperation.
Ash was impressed, though he didn't fully understand. But getting the Rainbow Group to leave Saffron City without bloodshed was an excellent outcome.
As for getting revenge for Eevee, he'd just wait until he passed through that Johto Region later, and then he'd screw over that main culprit, Dr. Silanu.
*Ding~!*
The two smiled simultaneously and clinked their cups.
"To a pleasant cooperation."
"To a pleasant cooperation."
*Swoosh!*
*Swoosh!*
Suddenly, in a corner of the Rooftop, two flashes of White Light flared up.
"Ash, don't be afraid, I'm here to save you!"
"Ash, oh~ With the great me here, you won't die today~!"
The moment they appeared, Gary and Blue looked around with utmost vigilance.
Then, their expressions suddenly changed to utter bewilderment as they stared at the two people casually clinking glasses and drinking coffee, looking quite relaxed.
One of them even had a large Team Rocket "R" drawn on his chest.
The two of them: "?"
Ash: "?"
Archer: "?"
