Chapter 126

Chapter 1014: Meowth in Boots

May 15, 2024 Author: Samsung Charmander (Author Name)

The next few battles were ferocious and swift, ending in an instant.

"Regieleki, use Shock Wave!"

Ash just kept repeating that one line.

Regieleki's bolts of electricity shot out. With almost every attack, it simply and brutally took out one of the challenger's Pokémon.

It was so fast that no one had time to react. A flash of electricity, and its opponents were already paralyzed and on the ground.

Coupled with the boost from its Transistor ability, its power was immense. One had to remember that while Regieleki's mind was in a newborn state, its body was that of an ancient pillar.

Both its battle instinct and its inherent power were at an extremely high level.

*BZZZT-BOOM!!*

Another Shock Wave effortlessly took out the opposing Slugma, but Ash couldn't help but sigh inwardly.

"With this speed, it should be able to learn Extreme Speed, right?"

According to his Pokédex scan, Regieleki's Speed base stat reached a terrifying 200.

For an average Pokémon, a Speed stat over 100 was already considered fast.

Although the literal base stats and actual combat speed were two different concepts, they were still related to some extent.

A poor Speed base stat on paper didn't necessarily mean its actual combat speed was low... But if the Speed base stat was extremely high, its actual combat speed was bound to be just as incredible.

"A Speed stat of 200... that has to be the fastest in the Pokémon world, right?"

Since the battle before him was so one-sided, Ash even took a moment to surf the web with his Pokédex, looking up the official rankings for speed base stats.

Ranked at the top was a Pokémon from the Hoenn Region called Ninjask.

However, Ninjask's Speed base stat was a mere 160, a joke in front of Regieleki.

*BZZT-WHOOSH!!*

Shock Waves burst forth one after another. It was a minor move that barely cost Regieleki any stamina.

"Congratulations, the contestant at table 25 has achieved 14 consecutive wins! You will now receive a complimentary Village Sandwich Combo and a Magnemite-yaki from our Battle Food Court!"

The voice of the waitress, serving as commentator, echoed across the sky above the plaza.

She didn't know Ash's name, so she could only use his table number.

A moment later, a colorful sandwich and a Magnemite-shaped taiyaki cake were placed on Brock and Blue's table.

"Go, Ash!"

"This is the perfect show for a meal!"

Brock and Blue didn't stand on ceremony and dug right in.

In any case, Ash had already earned the right to order, so he could just get something new later.

*Nom, nom, nom!*

The flavor was indeed good. Even Brock had to admit it was a billion times better than his own cooking, but that was about it.

"Huh, maybe because we got it for free, the taste doesn't feel like the ultimate experience?"

Blue held up the half-eaten Magnemite-yaki in her hand. Red bean paste flowed like lava from inside, steam rising from it, looking quite tempting.

It was like reading a book; if it was one you could read for free, half the fun was naturally gone.

"True."

Brock nodded, agreeing with her statement.

After that, the two of them stopped paying attention to the food and focused on the open-air plaza in the center.

So this was a Legendary Pokémon. It was so compact, yet so capable.

Regieleki was about as tall as Ash's neck.

"And now, this will be contestant 25's 15th title defense! Just one more win, and they will earn the qualification to taste our Battle Food Court's Crown dish for free!"

The announcer's voice echoed from the surround-sound speakers, not forgetting to advertise her own shop.

But after fourteen straight contestants were brutally and simply crushed, no fifteenth challenger was jumping out to offer up a free win.

In the plaza, the sight of the yellow pillar hopping left and right with such cuteness undoubtedly made everyone hesitate.

It seemed its electric current lower limbs had an innate bouncing ability; Ash had never seen Regieleki when it wasn't hopping.

The only exception was when it was asleep. Regieleki would retract the electric current limbs extending from its sides and lower body, leaving only its torso pillar... just as it looked when it was sealed.

Just as the situation stalled for five or six minutes with no one stepping up to the challenge...

"Meow!"

A sharp, bristling cat's cry suddenly came from one of the tables.

It was followed by a small, dark shadow that shot into the air.

*Swish, swoosh, thud!*

The figure flipped nimbly in the air several times before landing steadily, its movements incredibly stylish.

Ash quickly came to his senses. It looked like a real opponent was finally here.

The fourteen trainers he had defeated for his win streak had been such nobodies that Ash hadn't even had a chance to warm up.

"Huh? This Pokémon..."

But when Ash got a good look, his expression turned to one of disbelief, and he couldn't help but blurt out his thoughts.

Standing before him and Regieleki was none other than a Meowth.

He was very familiar with this Pokémon. It was a cat from his home region; Team Rocket's Meowth appeared before him all the time.

But the Meowth before him was rather peculiar.

It wore a dark blue, round cowboy hat with a feather sticking straight up, and a red scarf tied around its neck.

Its lower limbs were clad in a pair of brown, tall boots, which seemed to make it quite a bit taller.

It was a cowboy Meowth in boots.

Disguised Pokémon... they were common in Pokémon Contests, but not so much among Trainers, since purely aesthetic costumes often hindered a Pokémon's performance in battle.

"But... what a cool Meowth..."

Ash couldn't help but admire it.

Because of Team Rocket, he had thought all Meowth were cunning, but this boot-wearing Meowth had a defiantly proud air. Its half-lidded eyes burned with battle intent.

It reminded Ash of his Charizard, back when it was a Charmeleon with a similarly proud and rebellious nature.

"Excuse me, that's my Meowth."

Soon, a trainer followed, walking up to stand behind the Meowth.

He was a man with short, brownish-red hair and sharp, mature features. He wore a dark-colored, athletic short-sleeved shirt and trousers, with a long, dark-green cloak draped over them.

Many elite trainers dressed this way.

However, he was clearly older and taller than Ash and his group.

"Haha! Hello, I'm Tyson from Mauville City, currently undergoing special training to become the strongest trainer!"

His tone was quite friendly, which reminded Ash of his rival from the Silver Conference, Casey.

But this skilled elite trainer's appearance was far more formidable than the fourteen nobody trainers from before.

"I'm Ash from Pallet Town! Let's battle!"

Ash's battle intent surged as he directly issued the challenge.

Hearing this, Tyson's smile faded, and his own battle intensity ignited.

This was the unspoken rapport between trainers.

"Get ready for battle, Meowth!"

"Meow!"

The boot-wearing Meowth spread its paws, instantly extending several claws of white light, looking dangerous.
