Chapter 59: Zhu Zhuqing's Relief.
April 4, 2023 - Author: Fu Hejun
Ye Cheng led Ning Rongrong and Zhu Zhuqing into the small town, finding it much livelier than expected. The town's scale was much larger than an ordinary village, and aside from lacking city walls, it was surprisingly like a small city. The streets were lined with shops, offering all sorts of goods.
The main business scope of the shops here was related to Soul Masters, such as those specializing in weapons, armor, detoxification, and recovery potions. Even clothing stores sold special attire with a dozen pockets, suitable for Soul Masters on adventures to carry various sundries.
As the saying goes, "Those who live on the mountains live off the mountains, and those who live near water live off the water."
Such a small town clearly relied on the Star Dou Great Forest for its survival, and there were undoubtedly many more such towns around the Star Dou Great Forest.
After walking for a while, Ye Cheng found a very ordinary hotel ahead and said, "Let's stay here. We'll rest for a night, then procure some supplies for camping in the wilderness tomorrow. Once we're fully prepared, we'll enter the Star Dou Great Forest."
"Yes."
Ning Rongrong and Zhu Zhuqing responded obediently.
In such a wilderness town, hotels naturally couldn't compare to those high-end hotels in a city. However, the two girls weren't picky; compared to camping in the wild, having a hotel was already good.
The hotel was a two-story building. The first-floor hall was a simple restaurant, and the second floor was exclusively for accommodation. Ye Cheng booked a single room for himself, while Ning Rongrong and Zhu Zhuqing booked a double room. It was better to stay together for mutual care at night.
After checking into their rooms.
Ye Cheng brought the two girls to the first-floor restaurant for a meal. They casually chose a corner and then picked up the menu to order.
After ordering, they waited for the dishes to arrive.
A moment later, a clamorous noise suddenly reached them.
The three looked intently and discovered that they were familiar faces.
Tang San, Dai Mubai, Ma Hongjun, and Oscar, the only remaining students of Shrek Academy, appeared at the hotel's main entrance, walking in with laughter and chatter. Leading them was Zhao Wuji. A group of five.
Ning Rongrong and Zhu Zhuqing frowned instinctively upon seeing them, clearly having no good impression of the Shrek group. After all, that school was practically a place for cultivating hooligans. Its school motto and school rules were utterly bizarre.
At this moment, because the three were seated in a corner, with several other tables blocking them, they were not very conspicuous. The Shrek group did not notice Ning Rongrong and Zhu Zhuqing seated in the corner when they walked in.
After checking into their rooms, they also sat down in the restaurant, gathered around a table, and began chatting boisterously after ordering. Their voices were loud and particularly disruptive.
"Do you know those people?" Ye Cheng asked, feigning ignorance.
"Brother, let me tell you..." Ning Rongrong immediately began to elaborate, with added exaggeration, on how terrible Shrek Academy was, how she had been made to suffer, and how many grievances she had endured there.
Zhu Zhuqing's eyebrows twitched as she listened. She was witnessing another side of Ning Rongrong.
Although Shrek Academy might be undesirable, she thought it couldn't be as bad as Ning Rongrong made it out to be.
However, a scene that soon unfolded from the Shrek side completely changed Zhu Zhuqing's mind.
At the restaurant's main entrance, another group of people suddenly walked in. Leading them was a middle-aged man who appeared to be in his forties. His appearance was quite handsome, his hair meticulously combed and exceptionally shiny, and his moon-white Soul Master robe was exceedingly exquisite, embroidered with silver thread patterns that shimmered with light as he moved.
Following behind the middle-aged man were seven youths, six males and one female, who looked to be around twenty years old. They wore identical moon-white Soul Master robes, embroidered with two characters of the same color: Canghui.
From their uniform attire, it was evident that these were all Soul Masters. Tang San and his group were dressed very plainly, appearing no different from an ordinary person, but these newcomers were much more flamboyant.
This caused the restaurant boss to rush up to greet them the moment they entered, bowing and fawning with extreme politeness. After all, this small town depended on the Star Dou Great Forest for its livelihood, or in simpler terms, on Soul Masters. Soul Masters were not only a noble profession but also a wealthy one, so the boss naturally dared not neglect them.
"That little girl looks pretty good, Boss Dai. These guys must be from Canghui Academy, right?" The fatty Ma Hongjun's small eyes were fixed on the only young girl in the eight-person group. He had a typical piggish look, seemingly on the verge of drooling.
Dai Mubai, beside him, curled his lip. "It's just a small Canghui Academy. What's there to show off about?"
Neither Ma Hongjun nor Dai Mubai deliberately lowered their voices. A Soul Master's hearing was naturally better than a normal human's. Although the restaurant was a bit noisy, the middle-aged man among the eight cast his gaze over, frowning slightly. When he saw that the Shrek Academy table was just a group of children, his expression instantly became even more displeased.
Oscar sat next to Tang San and chuckled softly, "There's a good show to watch."
Tang San looked at him with some confusion. "What good show?"
Oscar whispered, "This is also part of our cultivation. Have you forgotten? Dean Flander said that a Soul Master who doesn't dare to cause trouble isn't a good Soul Master. As the saying goes, not daring to cause trouble makes one a mediocre talent. Besides, provoking people from a Soul Master Academy is the safest; at most, it's just a fight."
Tang San couldn't help but laugh. "Our Dean's sayings combined could form a 'Monster Sayings' collection. Looking at their age, this Canghui Academy should be an Advanced Soul Master Academy, right?"
The eight people from Canghui Academy had also taken their seats, two tables away from the Shrek group. Out of the corner of his eye, Tang San saw the middle-aged man, who was clearly a teacher, whisper something into a young man's ear. Soon, that young man stood up from his seat and walked towards Tang San's table. His path was precisely towards Dai Mubai.
A hint of disdain flickered in Dai Mubai's eyes. Tang San could see it, and Dai Mubai was naturally aware, but Dai Mubai didn't even give the other party a direct look.
Just then, a waiter happened to bring the first dish to their table. The young man from Canghui Academy suddenly sped up, and amidst the waiter's cry of surprise, he directly collided with the waiter. The dish was about to fall onto Dai Mubai's head.
"Don't waste food." Tang San, already prepared, extended his left hand like lightning, steadying the waiter's body. With his right hand, he extended it to perfectly support the plate. He used Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon, managing to keep the dish from spilling a single drop, and gently placed the plate on the table.
The young man from Canghui Academy was momentarily stunned. Due to the waiter's body blocking his view, he hadn't clearly seen Tang San's actions. However, a cunning smile quickly appeared on his face. "My apologies."
While saying this, he continued to walk forward, seemingly intending to pass by Dai Mubai. But one of his feet stealthily swept out, kicking directly at one of the chair legs beneath Dai Mubai. It was just an ordinary wooden chair; once a leg was kicked off, Dai Mubai naturally wouldn't be able to sit steadily.
Moreover, the young man's kicking motion was very subtle; his upper body remained still. If one wasn't paying close attention, it would be impossible to notice his movement.
Just as the young man kicked out, Dai Mubai moved. He was not someone with a good temper to begin with, and what's more, Zhu Zhuqing's sudden departure without a word had left him feeling suppressed anger. Faced with the other party's "provocation," how could he let such an opportunity slip?
With a muffled thump, the young man from Canghui Academy felt as if his foot had kicked an iron plate. His entire calf felt numb from the jolt, and immediately after, Dai Mubai's palm struck out.
The young man's face changed drastically as he raised his hands to block Dai Mubai's hand, but to his surprise, his hands were completely thrown open by the Soul Power attached to Dai Mubai's palm. That palm strike landed squarely on his chest.
The young man was quite tall, yet he was sent flying by Dai Mubai's palm, knocking over two tables in succession, and soaring towards the group from Canghui Academy.
The middle-aged man from Canghui Academy hastily stood up, raised his hands, and caught the young man by the shoulders, managing to halt his flight. The young man's face turned pale, and with a "wah," he spat out a mouthful of blood, becoming considerably weakened.
Dai Mubai straightened his body, using the momentum from his previous strike to stretch his waist. "My apologies, I miscalculated." The true nature of the Evil Eye White Tiger was revealed, with a disdainful and contemptuous expression on his face, filled with intense arrogance. Not to mention outsiders, even Tang San and his own comrades felt he was asking for a beating.
In the corner, Zhu Zhuqing, who had witnessed the entire process of Shrek initiating the provocation, couldn't help but shake her head. She felt incredibly relieved that she had left this academy early; otherwise, studying in such an academy and spending day after day with this group of people, she feared she herself would be influenced and turn into Dai Mubai's current despicable manner.
