Chapter 55

Chapter 52: The Familiar Ning Rongrong

2023-04-04 Author: Fu Hejun

Speaking of which, it was clearly their first meeting today. But perhaps due to their blood ties, or because Ye Cheng greatly resembled her father, she felt a natural sense of closeness. Ning Rongrong was completely at ease in front of Ye Cheng, eating without the slightest hint of awkwardness.

Once they finished their meal, the waiter came over to clear the dishes and also served two drinks. The two simply sat there and began to chat.

It was mostly Ning Rongrong, who was naturally outgoing, asking questions, with Ye Cheng providing the answers.

The brother and sister got along extremely well, completely unlike two people who had just met. Instead, it was as if they had known each other for a long time, and Ning Rongrong called him "brother" with utter naturalness. Anyone unaware of the situation would probably think these two siblings grew up together.

...

Night fell.

Shrek Academy's Dean, Four-Eyed Owl Flander, was standing on the large Training Ground, looking at the six students in front of him. Dai Mubai, Tang San, Ma Hongjun, and the ice-cold yet neat and decisive Zhu Zhuqing were all ready for the evening class, each looking full of spirit.

However, Flander's attention wasn't on them, but on the other two students.

"Oscar, have you two finished your twenty laps?" Flander's gaze was sharp, making people afraid to meet his eyes.

Oscar coughed, nodded, and said, "Dean, I've finished."

Flander snorted coldly, "I asked about 'you two,' not 'you'."

Oscar turned his head to look at Ning Rongrong. Ning Rongrong was also looking at him, her beautiful large eyes filled with an innocent expression.

Oscar gritted his teeth, nodded, and said, "Yes, we both finished."

Flander smiled; it was the smile of a successful schemer.

"Very good, Oscar, I didn't expect you to have such a great spirit of camaraderie. Since that's the case, go run another twenty laps; let me see just how deep your camaraderie is. You won't eat until you finish. Go."

Oscar didn't say anything, just nodded silently, and turned to run outside.

Flander's gaze turned to Dai Mubai, Tang San, and the others, "Don't you understand why I'm doing this? Why am I making him keep running?"

Dai Mubai and Ma Hongjun were familiar with Flander's temper and remained silent. Zhu Zhuqing was cold by nature and merely looked at him indifferently. Tang San, however, subconsciously nodded. He truly didn't understand why Flander was doing this.

Flander's face still bore that somewhat chilling smile, "Because he lied. Even if he lied out of camaraderie or for some other reason, he still lied. You are all still children, and lies are the worst character trait. I hope you understand."

As he spoke, his gaze shifted from Tang San and the others to Ning Rongrong, who wore an innocent expression, appearing pitifully helpless. "Tell me, did you complete the assignments I gave you this morning?"

Ning Rongrong honestly shook her head and said, "No, I didn't. The distance was too long, and I was hungry, so I couldn't keep going."

Flander slightly smiled and said, "So, you ran off to Soto City by yourself, and only recently came back to find Oscar, didn't you?"

Ning Rongrong widened her beautiful eyes, "You were monitoring me?"

Flander's expression instantly turned cold, "As Dean, I am responsible for every student of the Academy. If Oscar lied because he couldn't bear to see you punished, that might be excusable. But the mistake you committed is unforgivable. Leaving the Academy without permission, disobeying Academy arrangements, and having a senior student lie for you. None of these are mistakes an excellent Soul Master should make. If this were on a battlefield, your only outcome would be military discipline, death and nothing more."

Ning Rongrong frowned, the gentle expression on her face gradually vanished, revealing a hint of disdain and contempt. "This isn't a battlefield; it's just an Academy."

She understood very clearly: Flander was now subtly changing the subject. It was clearly this hateful guy who had deliberately made things difficult for her first, but as soon as he spoke, it seemed to become her fault instead. What kind of outrageous logic was that?

Flander nodded and said, "That's right, this is just an Academy, but this is my Shrek Academy. Now, I'll give you two paths to choose from. One, pack your things and leave here immediately. You are not fit to be a member here. The other path, prove to me that you have the qualifications to stay here, and the determination to never again violate the rules."

Hearing this, Ning Rongrong laughed. "What a display of dominance. You think just because I call you 'Dean', you can act this way?"

"Flander, who do you think you are? You're just a petty Soul Saint."

As soon as these words were uttered, Tang San and the others all paled. They never imagined that such a gentle-seeming young girl would actually say such disrespectful words to a superior.

At this moment, the gentle expression on Ning Rongrong's face had completely disappeared. Being bullied to this extent, even the most good-tempered person probably couldn't tolerate it. What's more, Miss Ning was never one to compromise.

"And, not fit to be a member here?"

"Do you think this young lady cares to waste her time in your shabby Academy?"

Ning Rongrong, who had long seen through Shrek Academy's ploys, showed great disdain for this Academy, and her gaze towards Flander was filled with even more contempt.

Based on Shrek Academy's student recruitment conditions, any student capable of enrolling was essentially a genius among geniuses. Such geniuses, no matter which Academy they went to, would absolutely receive excellent treatment.

What Shrek Academy could offer, other academies could also provide. What's more, they could offer even more!

This trashy Academy merely used the pretense of only recruiting 'monsters,' along with its strict enrollment requirements, to exploit students' curiosity and trick them into enrolling.

Ning Rongrong had long seen through the true nature of this Academy.
