Chapter 48: Forget It.
2023-04-04 Author: Fu Hejun
Seeing the two top Titled Douluo of the current era about to spar, Zhao Wuji and Flander couldn't help but widen their eyes, staring intently at the two. They were merely Soul Masters at the Soul Saint level, still very far from Titled Douluo. Therefore, if they could witness combat between Titled Douluo firsthand, they might be able to comprehend something from it.
Of course, there was a greater chance they wouldn't comprehend anything at all. After all, if one could easily comprehend things simply by watching others fight, then all the academies and sects in this world would have gone out of business.
Overall, it still depended on an individual's innate talent and comprehension. If your comprehension was good, you could learn something from it. If your comprehension was poor, then you could only watch the spectacle.
They had originally thought that a dragon-versus-tiger battle would ensue, an intense showdown worthy of being recorded in the annals of the Soul Master world. But soon, Flander and Zhao Wuji blinked, then exchanged blank glances, seemingly confused by everything they were seeing.
"Bang!"
"Boom!"
"Bang bang! Rumble rumble...!!"
What unfolded before Flander and Zhao Wuji's eyes was a scene like a father beating his son.
That once-unrivaled Haotian Douluo, renowned in the Soul Master world and once regarded as an idol by many, now looked as pathetic as a dog. He could only constantly evade his opponent's attacks, occasionally having to roll a few times on the ground and get covered in mud just to barely dodge.
Meanwhile, his opponent stood casually and effortlessly in place. With a mere wave of his hand, he hadn't even summoned his Martial Soul. He had simply released powerful soul power, forming an impact. This alone shattered all of Tang Hao's methods, beating him like a common dog wallowing in mud.
"This..."
After Flander and Zhao Wuji exchanged glances, cold sweat broke out on their backs. They then discreetly retreated, moving far away from the area.
As for why they did this?
The Haotian Douluo was being beaten like a dead dog. Was his pathetic side something they should be seeing?
If they continued to stay and watch, were they sure they wouldn't be silenced by a humiliated and enraged Tang Hao afterward?
No one would want their pathetic side exposed. Especially Tang Hao, whose character was notoriously base and shameless. He would trouble and even try to kill a girl over a minor conflict. He completely lacked the demeanor of a powerful expert. What could one expect from such a person?
"What about your Ring Exploding?"
"Why haven't you used it yet?"
After waving his hand once more and sending Tang Hao flying with powerful soul power, Ye Cheng couldn't help but frown and say, "I once heard that you, relying on the Clear Sky Sect's unique skill, Ring Exploding, successfully retreated from the pursuit of a Limit Douluo. Could it be that this was merely a false rumor spread by others?"
Tang Hao didn't respond. Ring Exploding wasn't something that could be used casually; it was a unique skill reserved for desperate situations. If he used it, he would be weakened for a period of time. This was merely a spar, not yet the time for a life-or-death fight.
At the same time, his heart secretly marveled at the power of Twin Martial Souls. He had once escaped with his life from Qian Daoliu, who was also a Limit Douluo, and thus he could feel the difference between the two even more clearly. Compared to Qian Daoliu, who only had nine soul rings, Ye Cheng, who possessed eighteen, was undoubtedly much stronger.
He hadn't even used any soul skills. He was so powerful that he could neutralize and forcibly suppress all of Tang Hao's attacks simply by relying on his profound soul power! The moment Tang Hao deployed his domain, it was instantly broken. Faced with the immense pressure of that soul power, his soul skills shattered like paper at a touch!
In front of this person, he was as fragile as a baby!
The gap was too great.
They "sparred" for a while longer.
Seeing that Tang Hao consistently refused to use Ring Exploding, and even after recognizing the immense gap, simply focused on defense and passively taking hits with an air of complete resistance, a speechless Ye Cheng stopped his attacks.
He really hadn't expected Tang Hao to be this cowardly. Even if he had just exploded a ring as a formality, Ye Cheng wouldn't have looked down on him so much. This was complete surrender.
Looking at Tang Hao, who stood before him offering no resistance and adopting an "I don't care what you do" attitude, Ye Cheng stopped and began to ponder how to deal with him.
Kill him?
The man hadn't actually provoked or offended him. If Ye Cheng killed him simply because he found him an eyesore, wouldn't that make him like the great villains often seen on television who randomly slaughter the innocent?
Then, cripple him?
The same logic applied.
Currently, there was no conflict between them. The two had no grievances against each other. For Ye Cheng to cripple him would be highly unreasonable and completely inconsistent with his character's established persona.
Furthermore, with his current strength, was there any point in bullying a half-crippled Tang Hao?
Looking at the pathetic-looking Tang Hao, Ye Cheng thought for a moment and realized that apart from finding him an eyesore, he currently had no reason to kill him.
Forget it. He had vented enough of his anger.
He would let him off this time.
Ye Cheng shook his head. He then didn't even bother to glance at Tang Hao again, turned, and left the messy area.
And after he left...
Tang Hao finally couldn't hold on any longer. His legs gave out, and he plopped down onto the ground. He gasped for breath, looking as if he had just survived a catastrophe.
P.S. My apologies. The author has had a bit of writer's block these past two days. I wrote a lot of content, but after reviewing it, I felt dissatisfied. I kept deleting and revising, but in the end, I gave up on all of it. It all felt like filler. I need to re-read the Douluo series to find some inspiration. For today, there will only be one update. I'll make up for the missing chapters in a couple of days.
