Chapter 34: An Enthusiastic Girl
Star Luo Empire.
Zhu Manor.
"You're saying that just as you were about to succeed, you happened to run into him?!" Zhu Zhuyun's expression was indifferent, her tone making it impossible to discern her mood.
"Yes."
The scarred-face Soul Saint spoke with lingering fear, "Moreover, this subordinate suspects that he may have been hiding in the shadows, observing the Second Miss for a long time, only he never revealed himself."
After all, upon suddenly learning he would take someone as a disciple in the future, anyone would likely grow curious. They would probably go find that person and observe them in secret.
They had acted too late, failing to kill Zhu Zhuqing before he found her. Now that this future master-and-disciple pair had met, killing Zhu Zhuqing was impossible.
Zhu Zhuyun naturally understood this. She only hated that her subordinates were unlucky, finding Zhu Zhuqing too late and thus missing the opportunity.
It seems heaven truly wants me dead.
"..."
Zhu Zhuyun exhaled lightly, closed her eyes, and suppressed the urge to curse. She waved her hand, signaling him to leave.
The scarred-face Soul Saint said nothing more, bowed, and then turned to leave.
Not long after the scarred-face Soul Saint left, a series of crashing sounds suddenly echoed from within the otherwise quiet room! Clearly, someone was throwing things again.
And in the days to come, Zhu Zhuyun would probably live in constant anxiety, fearing every day that the sister she had bullied so miserably would become powerful and come back to take revenge.
…
The next day.
After finding a hotel and resting for the night, Zhu Zhuqing finally adjusted her mood. She then left the hotel, exited Soto City through the South Gate, and headed toward her destination.
Zhu Zhuqing didn't know much about Shrek Academy, only that Dai Mubai was currently a student there.
She had originally held a glimmer of hope, thinking that this academy would be extraordinary. But after seeing Dai Mubai's drunken and decadent state yesterday, Zhu Zhuqing had to question the academy's teaching standards.
After leaving Soto City, Zhu Zhuqing followed the road south. The official road was lined with vast fields of farmland. Soto City's reputation as the food capital of the Barak Kingdom was well-deserved. However, apart from the large fields, as far as the eye could see, there were no buildings that resembled an academy.
Zhu Zhuqing's lovely eyebrows furrowed slightly. According to the address she knew, Shrek Academy should have been visible not far from the South Gate of Soto City. Why couldn't she see even a trace of it now?
She walked on for a while longer.
Ahead, the outlines of some buildings gradually appeared.
She realized it seemed to be a village.
*Perhaps I should ask the villagers if they know where Shrek Academy is.*
Having made her decision, Zhu Zhuqing quickened her pace. As she drew closer, she estimated it was a village of about a hundred households. The perimeter was enclosed by a wooden fence, likely to defend against wild beasts.
At the village entrance, a crowd had gathered, though she didn't know why.
After walking a little further and getting closer, Zhu Zhuqing realized something was amiss. There were indeed many people gathered at the village entrance, mostly boys and girls around twelve or thirteen years old, the majority of whom were accompanied by their parents.
A table was set up at the village entrance, and an elderly man in his sixties sat behind it.
Of course, that wasn't what caught her attention.
Zhu Zhuqing stared blankly at the entrance, where a somewhat dilapidated plaque hung on an archway made of wood. Five simple words were carved on it—Shrek Academy.
In front of these five words was a green head, which looked like that of a humanoid monster. The old man behind the table also wore a similar green, circular badge on his chest. It seemed this was Shrek Academy's school emblem.
In other words, this dilapidated little village was the so-called Shrek Academy???
Zhu Zhuqing felt a wave of dizziness.
Even though she had long since given up hope for Dai Mubai's academy, she never expected it could be so outrageous!
How could this run-down place be called a Soul Master Academy?
Just as she was struggling to accept reality, her mind a bit muddled, a voice suddenly sounded from behind her.
"Hello…"
The voice was soft and pleasant; just from the sound, one could imagine its owner was a well-mannered, gentle young lady.
Zhu Zhuqing came back to her senses, her expression returning to its usual indifference, only now it was even colder than before.
She turned and looked at the owner of the voice.
Dressed in a blue-green long dress, she had smooth, coffee-colored hair. Two slender braids held her center-parted bangs in place, and beneath them was a delicate and lovely oval face, its fair complexion tinged with a faint pink~
The girl's eyes were the color of sapphires, and her long eyelashes made them look bright and clear. Her entire demeanor exuded a fresh and elegant feeling.
'It's her?!'
Although her appearance was slightly younger than in the video, Zhu Zhuqing recognized the girl before her with just one glance. It was Ning Rongrong, the one whose Martial Soul was the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda and who had been her teammate in the soul duel competition from the video of the future.
"Ah, it really is you!"
When Ning Rongrong saw Zhu Zhuqing turn around, her face lit up with surprise. Then, with a natural familiarity, she said, "Hello, my name is Ning Rongrong. I hope we can be friends. And you?"
"Hello."
Zhu Zhuqing's expression was indifferent. The cold-looking girl found her enthusiasm a bit overwhelming, but she knew that if the videos of the future hadn't intervened, this girl would have become a very good friend.
Therefore, now that Ning Rongrong knew the future, it was perfectly normal for her to want to befriend her.
And after watching the previous video, Zhu Zhuqing naturally wouldn't push the enthusiastic girl away. She stated her own name, "Zhu Zhuqing."
She hesitated for a moment before adding, "Are you here to apply to Shrek too?"
Zhu Zhuqing hadn't said whether she wanted to be friends or not, but Ning Rongrong didn't seem to mind. She was still just as enthusiastic. "Yes, what a coincidence! Then maybe we'll be classmates. That's probably why we team up for soul duels in the future."
"Mmm."
Zhu Zhuqing nodded, appearing to be a woman of few words. She really wasn't good at dealing with such overly enthusiastic people.
Meanwhile, the smiling Ning Rongrong was actually recalling her father's repeated instructions before she left: "If you meet Brother Ye Cheng, you must do your best to build a good relationship with him!"
This was the real reason for Ning Rongrong's enthusiasm!
