Chapter 169: Encountered a Natural Counter.
The originally calm seawater suddenly churned violently, creating monstrous waves. A thick water pillar with a diameter of over ten meters shot up into the sky, aiming directly at Neptune in mid-air.
Neptune didn't even bother to dodge this water pillar, which was clearly just an initial probe. Blue light shimmered around him, and he was completely enveloped by the rising column of water.
When the water pillar's power was exhausted, he reappeared in his original spot, completely unharmed, as if the towering column of water couldn't hurt him in the slightest. He was completely immune to the damage from the water current.
The sea below fell silent for a moment.
Immediately after, the sea surface churned rapidly, revealing a massive shadow approaching from below. A gigantic body slowly emerged from beneath the water. In an instant, all the surrounding seawater was tinged with a deep blue glow.
Accompanied by a low, muffled roar, immense sound waves spread out like ripples. The sound reverberated for dozens of miles across the sea, and even Xiaobai, far away, could feel the power in that roar.
Neptune, in mid-air, calmly gazed at the behemoth below with his azure eyes.
The colossal body that emerged from the sea measured over two hundred meters in length, its entire form shining with a sapphire-like hue. Its head originally had two massive eyes, but the left one was merely a black, empty socket—it was blind. Its sole remaining right eye stared coldly into the sky.
Evidently, this blind left eye was the handiwork of the Sea God from back then.
When the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King emerged from the sea and saw Neptune in mid-air, its pupils constricted slightly. It had clearly recognized his identity. After all, with its intelligence, it was naturally within the scope of the Q&A System.
*What is this human doing here?*
The Deep Sea Demonic Whale King felt a trace of unease, recalling that Neptune would become the new Sea God in the future. Then it thought of the old Sea God and its own long-standing grudge... It finally concluded: Neptune had come with ill intentions!
It had to strike first!
The Deep Sea Demonic Whale King's body shifted slightly. A massive tail rose from behind it, glowing with a distorted blue light, and heavily slammed onto the sea surface.
Countless water droplets shot up into the sky, each one like a swift, sharp arrow, enveloping the entire area around Neptune.
"A mere trifle."
Neptune watched the water droplets splash up from its tail hitting the sea surface, not even bothering to dodge. He simply remained in mid-air, calmly observing the incoming projectiles.
Had it been anyone else, even a Titled Douluo would have found it impossible to ignore this attack. This was an attack unleashed by the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King, a being infinitely close to a god, even if it was just a simple probe. Given its immense size, the destructive power it unleashed was utterly terrifying.
But unfortunately, it was facing Neptune, a master of water. Although he couldn't yet be called a true master of water, for the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King to use water against him was purely an act of showing off one's limited skills before an expert.
The terrifying incoming water droplets, as soon as they approached Neptune's body and touched the layer of blue light radiating from him, instantly melted like ice and snow, turning into ordinary steam and dissipating.
Clearly, the blue water pillar that had shot up earlier had met the same fate, completely unable to cause any injury to Neptune.
Seeing that its probing attacks had no effect on its enemy, the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King's heart sank. It realized that its odds of survival today were slim. Even if this human hadn't yet become a god, he was definitely not easy to deal with.
However, even though it felt it might not be a match, the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King couldn't just surrender without a fight. It had to put up some resistance, at the very least. What if this guy was just strong on the outside but weak on the inside, and not actually its opponent? Anything was possible. Those who surrendered without even fighting were the most foolish of creatures.
"Buzz!"
A massive ball of blue light, over five meters in diameter, condensed at the front of the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King's mountainous back. The terrifying blue light only gathered for an instant before it shot out, heading straight for Neptune in mid-air.
Seeing this blue pillar of water, not unlike the first, Neptune knew this was the whale's true method of attack; the previous ones were merely probes. Though this pillar was smaller than the initial one of over ten meters, it meant the power was more concentrated, and thus its destructive force would only be greater!
Just as he was about to raise the Sea God Trident in his hand to strike this old whale, he suddenly felt the surrounding space become strange. Though clearly in the sky, he felt as if he were in the great sea. The surrounding air seemed to ripple strangely, and an invisible resistance made him feel as if he were submerged in the deep sea!
But this sea of air possessed an even stronger, more irresistible resistance.
Domain!
Neptune immediately realized this. Only the power of a Domain could control the entire sky over such a vast area. This was the Domain of a million-year Soul Beast, the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King!
Even though he was currently hundreds of meters high in the sky, he was still enveloped by his opponent's Domain. One could only imagine how powerful this old whale truly was.
But unfortunately for it, it was facing Neptune today, an expert who was its natural counter in terms of attributes!
Using water to deal with a master of water?
Neptune shook his head, gazing at the terrifying blue light below. He could feel the vast energy contained within this attack. This wasn't a purely energy-based attack; it was more like the roar of the great sea. He could tell that within the blue pillar of light, not much of the energy truly belonged to the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King; it was mostly the power of the great sea.
Evidently, as an ocean creature, it was perfectly reasonable for the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King to be able to mobilize the power of the great sea to a certain extent.
In a sense, Soul Beasts held more advantages than humans and were more favored by nature.
But unfortunately, the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King was facing a cheater, a player using hacks. Neptune merely extended his hand with a calm expression, and from his palm, a brilliant azure light suddenly burst forth!
"Shatter!" he commanded.
The colossal energy pillar unleashed by the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King changed almost instantly. The incredibly concentrated energy abruptly disintegrated, and vast amounts of blue light transformed into seawater, scattering in all directions...
"Rumble!!"
This continuous rumbling sound came from the massive amount of seawater falling back and crashing into the great sea.
Neptune held the Sea God Trident in his left hand, his other hand maintaining a downward pressing motion. Floating in mid-air, he didn't even sway as he broke the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King's attack.
In the distance.
Xiaobai, who had been carefully observing the battle from afar, saw Neptune so effortlessly neutralize the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King's usual attack. An amount of energy so massive that it made her heart pound in fear was simply dispelled so nonchalantly. Her confidence couldn't help but soar. At the same time, she found her previous worries somewhat amusing.
*Neptune lose?*
Just from this situation, he could probably crush the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King with one hand tied behind his back!
After all, no matter how strong the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King was, it was ultimately a sea soul beast that lived in the water. Its usual methods were almost inseparable from water. Its might was largely built upon its control over the great sea's power. In facing Neptune, a Soul Master whose Martial Soul was the water element, it had completely met its natural counter.
