Chapter 108: Smooth Sailing
Several days had already passed since the Wind Rider set sail.
The scenery of the Great Sea was fine at first, but looking at the same thing for too long can become tiresome. Therefore, in the days that followed, apart from occasionally coming out for some fresh air, Neptune mostly remained in his cabin, cultivating in quiet meditation. He shifted the main focus of his consciousness back to his main body, treating this as an AFK cultivation session.
In addition, according to the Captain's calculations, if there were no mishaps along the way, they would only need to sail for about another month before reaching their destination.
This speed couldn't be called fast, but it was still within an acceptable range.
As for mishaps?
Mishaps during sea voyages were nothing more than encountering natural disasters such as tsunamis, storms, or tornadoes, or man-made calamities like attacks from sea soul beasts or pirate ships. With Neptune's current strength, although he couldn't yet control the weather, he could easily ensure the safety of this ship from natural disasters.
Sea soul beasts were unlikely to be encountered because these merchant ships had their own safe routes. These routes clearly indicated where dangerous soul beasts that would attack ships were located, so under normal circumstances, sea soul beast attacks were unlikely—unless the Captain deliberately steered the ship into a gathering place, just as Tang San and the others had encountered in the original story.
As for man-made calamities, like pirates?
There was even less need to worry. If they encountered any pirates, they only needed to state who had hired this ship, and it was guaranteed to scare them into a hasty retreat. No pirate would be so foolish as to rob a ship carrying the future Sea God.
Therefore, the Wind Rider's journey could simply be described as smooth sailing.
After a month and a half, they finally arrived near their destination.
"Your Excellency, we can only take you this far."
On the deck, the Captain spoke with an apologetic expression, "Any further, and we will be within the domain of Sea God Island. If any vessel enters this range, it will immediately be attacked by the island-protecting divine beast—the hundred-thousand-year Demonic White Shark mentioned in the previous question and answer video."
"It's fine. I can just fly the remaining distance myself." Neptune looked at the faintly visible island silhouette on the distant horizon and did not make things difficult for them.
He soared into the sky and flew into the distance.
The Captain and the others watched his departing figure, their eyes filled with both a sense of loss and longing.
Neptune flew about ten meters above the sea, a layer of aqua-blue light radiating from his body. This caused his aura to blend perfectly with the surrounding seawater, making him undetectable by aura perception alone, unless seen with the naked eye.
He sped along, constantly approaching Sea God Island.
During this time, he occasionally saw the figures of Demonic White Sharks appearing on the sea's surface below. But for these soul beasts that primarily relied on their senses to hunt prey, Neptune, who had completely merged his aura with the Great Sea, was simply ignored.
By a rough estimate, Neptune discovered that at least several hundred Demonic White Sharks were gathered in the sea area near Sea God Island. They formed a natural barrier, blocking external vessels from approaching.
Soon, he arrived at his destination and slowly descended.
When his feet touched the beach, he immediately realized how different this place was.
The first sensation was warmth, like that of spring. Looking around, Sea God Island was surprisingly lush and green, overflowing with an ineffable vitality.
The island was massive, its edges stretching beyond the horizon. All sorts of plants grew here, many of which were unknown and unnameable.
The scent of the sea washed over him—fresh, moist, and invigorating. In the wind, he could hear the faint roars and whispers of the ocean.
Neptune could keenly sense that this island's geographical location was very special, situated almost at the very center of the Great Sea. With the right kind of device, one could easily spread their influence across the entire Great Sea from here.
Moreover, the island was like spring all year round, which was also related to its unique geographical location.
"This Sea God certainly knows how to pick a place," he couldn't help but say. The video playback ultimately had its limitations; only by coming to the real Sea God Island could one discover that this place was far more beautiful than what the video had shown.
The sky was a distant, pure, and transparent azure.
Under the sunlight, the fine, white sand on the beach shimmered with a silvery light, like countless tiny crystals. The first thing one would feel upon arrival was serenity—the sea and sky merged into one, with gulls soaring in competition... a scene of breathtaking beauty.
After admiring the scenery for a while, Neptune finally remembered his main purpose for being here. He stepped onto the soft, cotton-like beach and walked towards the depths of Sea God Island.
He hadn't walked for long when a slightly startled voice came from the forest ahead.
"Who's there?"
Accompanying the low shout, several figures suddenly darted out of the woods, blocking Neptune's path.
These people were dressed in yellow. Coincidentally, they were the very same patrolling Sea Soul Masters who had appeared in the previous video. When they saw Neptune, their expressions instantly became a sight to behold.
Through the spoilers from the previous future video, they already knew that the person before them, if nothing went wrong, was the future Sea God!
The Sea God.
He was their faith. Even if the person before them wasn't the Sea God yet, knowing that he definitely would be in the future was enough to leave them at a loss, unsure of what attitude to adopt.
Having his path blocked by these people, Neptune showed no surprise. He simply said calmly, "I have come here only to accept the Sea God's Trials."
He was direct, without any attempt at concealment.
"Please follow us."
The yellow-clothed men's expressions changed, and their demeanor immediately became incredibly respectful. They silently made way, letting Neptune walk ahead. It was clear that subconsciously, they already regarded him as the master here.
Led by the yellow-clothed men, Neptune, just as in the video, arrived at the Mediterranean Sea, at the Sea Demoness Sacred Pillar.
At the edge of the Sacred Pillar Platform, a young girl was sitting. She had a massive fish tail, its beautiful curve extending all the way to her waist. The splendid tail was gently slapping the surface of the Sea within a Sea, appearing full of childish playfulness.
Her upper body was clad in a small black top that didn't even cover her navel. She had large blue eyes that resembled the sky more than the ocean. Her exquisite face was arrestingly beautiful, with a faint smile always lingering at the corners of her mouth. Her fishtail slapped the water, thoroughly engrossed in her play.
She was the Pillar Guardian of the Sea Demoness Sacred Pillar, the Sea Demoness.
'A mermaid. This is my first time seeing one in reality.' Seeing this Pillar Guardian, the Sea Demoness, for the first time, Neptune couldn't help but take a few extra glances. After all, she was a non-human girl; curiosity was only natural.
