Chapter 37

Chapter 37: The Titled Douluo Elders

Seventeen years ago, not long after Aotian first awoke, he had discovered the fierce beasts slumbering within the Star Dou Great Forest.

But having faced beasts for countless years, he had already grown tired of them, which was why he had never bothered with those few.

Besides, in his perception, the strength of those dragons with the Dragon Race aura was far too weak.

This time, accompanying Xiao Wu into the Star Dou Great Forest, he finally felt a flicker of interest and wanted to see just how different this Dragon Race that had appeared after him truly was.

He withdrew his divine sense and casually scanned the area around the hotel. The number of people lying in wait had increased again, now totaling more than ten.

In their eyes, someone who could casually spend over four hundred gold soul coins was a fat sheep ripe for the shearing.

Before long, Xiao Wu emerged from her bath.

She was dressed in soft pink pajamas, her face flushed and her skin still radiating warmth.

With her storage soul tool, she had stored away the clothes she had changed out of.

"I'm done washing," she announced with a cheerful giggle, then took a running leap, flying through the air and landing with a bounce on the bed.

Suddenly, she remembered Aotian beside her and stopped, asking, "Maybe... I should sleep on the sofa tonight."

She felt it was rather improper for an unmarried boy and girl to be sleeping together.

"Cut the nonsense," Aotian said, reaching out and pressing lightly on her unconsciousness acupoint.

Xiao Wu's head tilted to the side, and she instantly fell unconscious.

Aotian tossed her onto the bed, pulled the quilt over her, then opened the room door and walked out.

There were some things he needed to take care of outside.

Down on the first floor, the same server from before was still at the counter. Aotian didn't spare him a glance as he walked straight out of the hotel.

The server saw Aotian emerge and was about to say something, but before the words could leave his lips, Aotian was already out the door.

"Courting death. What a pity..."

...

He was out. The fat sheep actually came out.

Under the dim streetlights, more than a dozen pairs of eyes lit up fiercely, finding it hard to believe the fat sheep would come out at a time like this.

Previously, they hadn't been able to figure out Aotian's identity and were worried he might have other companions in this small town, so they hadn't made a move.

But later, when they discovered Aotian had actually gotten a single room with that little girl, it confirmed that it was really just the two children.

If their target hadn't been inside the hotel, they would have acted long ago.

Aotian didn't even look at these people, heading straight in the direction of the Spirit Hall.

The Spirit Hall had also established a branch hall in this small town. Several of the Titled Douluo auras that Aotian had sensed earlier were located within this branch hall.

Evidently, the Spirit Hall had also received news of a 100,000-year soul beast's humanoid transformation, which was why they had sent Titled Douluo over.

Aotian had to send these Titled Douluo back. After all, with him around, who else could possibly kill Xiao Wu's mother?

After walking for a few minutes, Aotian turned into a pitch-black alley.

By the time the dozen or so people arrived, he was already standing there quietly, waiting for them.

"You're too slow," he stated faintly.

The group of more than ten exchanged glances, then pulled apart from each other, splitting into three groups.

Hearing Aotian's words and seeing his calm and composed demeanor, these men instantly felt a sense of unease.

They released their spiritual power, cautiously scanning the surroundings for any ambush.

But after a moment of sensing, they found no other Spirit Masters hiding there at all.

Then how did this child discover them?

"What's there to be afraid of?" a burly, full-bearded man cursed as he stepped forward. His large, bell-like eyes glared at Aotian as he said, "Kid, hand over all the gold soul coins on you, and this grandpa guarantees he'll let you go."

"Boss, didn't you just say this kid was good-looking, with his delicate skin and all, and that you wanted to have some 'fun' with him?" a straightforward underling reminded him.

"Bullshit! Am I that kind of pervert?" Hearing his underling expose his secret, the bearded man hurriedly denied it.

The bosses of the other two groups sneered and charged out simultaneously, wanting to be the first to grab Aotian.

Only an idiot would stand around chattering.

These two bosses were both at the Soul Emperor level of cultivation. As they rushed out, they were already fighting each other while rapidly closing in on Aotian.

Their underlings also broke into a chaotic brawl at the same time.

"Damn it, they got the jump on us," the bearded man yelled, releasing his Martial Soul and charging forward.

Of the two bosses rushing toward Aotian, one was slightly weaker and was sent flying into the alley wall.

The remaining one charged up to Aotian with a ferocious grin, his ten fingers like an eagle's talons as he clawed at Aotian's head.

He could easily crush a little brat's head, then escape with the body. It couldn't be simpler.

Aotian quietly watched these guys put on their show. They really did see him as a fat sheep.

He had seen this kind of situation many times while traveling the continent with Bibi Dong; they were usually people coveting Bibi Dong's beauty.

"It's over," Aotian said softly, but his voice echoed in everyone's ears.

What? The boss who was about to crush Aotian's head was stunned. When he saw the cold smile on Aotian's face, his blood ran cold.

Aotian raised his finger and drew the character for "ten" in the air toward the man pouncing at him.

With a "pfft," a large amount of blood spurted out. The Soul Emperor expert was sliced into four pieces, as if by an invisible blade in the shape of a cross.

His severed limbs twitched on the ground. The spurting blood splattered onto the other boss, causing him to freeze in a daze.

Not a single drop of blood stained Aotian. His gaze fell upon the second Soul Emperor, and he raised his finger with a smile.

"Don't!" the man shrieked. His scalp went numb, and his heart was filled with extreme terror as he rapidly retreated.

Aotian mercilessly waved his finger, and the invisible power of space sliced the man into several pieces.

The dozen or so remaining people were all scared stiff.

"Run!" someone shouted.

Aotian spun and leaped, his hands moving as if playing a beautiful symphony.

When he left, only a pile of mangled corpses remained in the alley.

Inside the small town's Spirit Hall branch, three Titled Douluo elders, along with some Soul Douluo and Soul Sage experts, were sitting together discussing tomorrow's plan of action.

Just then, Aotian's figure materialized in the grand hall.

The group of powerful Spirit Masters' expressions changed. They shot to their feet, releasing their Martial Souls.

"Who are you?" someone demanded loudly.

Aotian looked toward Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo, who were seated at the very front.

The two shuddered and hurriedly stood up, saying respectfully, "Mr. Ao, what brings you here?"

Aotian had appeared in the form of a young man, so Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo recognized him at a glance.

Even if they had ten times the courage, they wouldn't dare to remain seated in front of Aotian.

"Put away your Martial Souls!" Chrysanthemum Douluo shouted.

"Mr. Ao, please, take the main seat." Chrysanthemum Douluo's face was wreathed in a brilliant smile, his body nearly bent at a ninety-degree angle.

Aotian walked to the main seat at the head of the hall and sat down. A serving girl immediately hurried over to pour tea.

As the scalding tea poured into the cup, Aotian looked at the pretty serving girl before him and grabbed her hand.

"The tea is overflowing," he said with a smile.

"Ah—" the girl cried out in surprise, only then realizing that she had been so busy staring at Aotian's handsome face that she had forgotten she was still pouring tea.

A blush spread across her cheeks, quickly followed by an expression of panic.

"Please... please forgive me, my lord," she stammered.

This was a person even the elders had to revere. How high must his status be? How could she not be terrified?

Aotian waved his hand and said with a smile, "It's nothing. You may leave."

"Thank you, my lord," the serving girl said gratefully and respectfully withdrew.

Aotian's gaze shifted to the three elders. "I came here to give you an order."
