Chapter 14: Xiao Wu: I'll Beat Up Tang San For You
Xiao Wu came before Aotian, her hands behind her back, tilting her head as her big eyes stared unblinkingly at Aotian's face.
Aotian couldn't help but touch his own face and ask, "Is there a flower on my face?"
Xiao Wu giggled. "You're so funny, and handsome too. You're the best-looking human I've ever seen."
Aotian teased, "Hearing you say that, could it be you're not a human?"
Xiao Wu paused, then stuck out her little pink tongue. "You're the one who's not human!"
Then, she asked, "Are you also a new student here to register?"
Aotian nodded. "I just finished registering and was about to head to the dormitory."
Just then, Director Su finished the procedures for Xiao Wu and said, "Xiao Wu, come get your things."
Xiao Wu turned and hopped over to Director Su, taking the school uniform from him.
Director Su smiled. "Perfect. You're both Work-Study Students and live in Dormitory Seven, so you can go together. You'll be classmates from now on, so you must help each other, understand?"
"Understood, old grandpa," Xiao Wu replied sweetly.
Aotian, meanwhile, gave a light nod.
He was about to walk out when Director Su's voice sounded again. "Oh, right, Aotian, you must not fight with Tang San. Otherwise, you'll be given a demerit, and your parents will be notified."
Aotian paused for a moment without turning his head and said, "I won't make the first move."
After speaking, he left the Academic Affairs Office, holding his school uniform.
Xiao Wu hastily followed him out.
"This child, he really has character," Director Su said, shaking his head with a smile.
"Hey, wait for me!" Xiao Wu called from behind, chasing after him with her school uniform.
Aotian didn't stop, merely giving Xiao Wu a faint glance.
Although this little girl was dressed plainly, she was as delicately sculpted as a jade carving and as adorable as a porcelain doll—truly a budding beauty.
Her long braid was especially distinctive, swinging back and forth against her hips as she walked.
"Is your name Aotian?" Xiao Wu turned her head to look at Aotian's profile. She had heard Director Su call his name earlier.
She discovered that Aotian's profile was also very handsome, a sight that was pleasing to the eye.
Aotian replied with a simple "Mm."
"Since we're in the same dormitory, should we walk together?" Xiao Wu asked.
Aotian again replied with an "Mm."
"Do you know how to get to the dormitory?" Xiao Wu asked.
"I know."
The campus was so small that Aotian didn't even need to use his Divine Sense. His gaze pierced through all obstacles, seeing the dormitory building, Dormitory Seven, and even Tang San fighting with his dorm-mates.
Aotian remembered the rule in the Work-Study Students' dormitory: whoever was the strongest fighter became the Boss of the dorm.
Being the Boss also meant standing up for all the other Work-Study Students, which was why the position was decided by martial strength.
Seeing that Aotian wasn't paying much attention to her, Xiao Wu couldn't help but ask, "Did you not eat breakfast? Why are you only speaking in one or two-word answers?"
"I ate," Aotian replied.
"..." Xiao Wu fell silent.
Lively and energetic, Xiao Wu soon asked again, "Who is that Tang San? Why do you want to fight him?"
"He's also a new student this year and our dorm-mate. I had a small dispute with him earlier," Aotian answered.
"Don't worry." Xiao Wu raised a hand and patted her chest with a thump. "To thank you for showing me to the dormitory, I'll help you beat him up."
"There's no need." Aotian glanced at Xiao Wu and shook his head.
"Are you looking down on me?" Xiao Wu glared at Aotian. "Don't listen to that old man spouting nonsense about a Rabbit Spirit not being powerful. I'm a really good fighter; you might not even be able to beat me."
"Alright, then I'll leave him to you," Aotian said.
"Does that mean we're friends now? You're my first friend!" Xiao Wu was quite excited.
For some reason, from the first moment she saw Aotian, she had found him very likable.
By now, the academy grounds were already bustling with returning students. When they saw Aotian and Xiao Wu, their gazes were immediately drawn, and they began pointing and whispering.
Xiao Wu also noticed something was amiss and asked, "Why are those people talking about us?"
"They're talking about me," Aotian said.
"Why?" Xiao Wu asked.
"Because I'm handsome."
An expression of sudden realization appeared on Xiao Wu's face. "I think you're handsome too."
Then, she added, "But this young lady isn't bad-looking either, so why aren't they talking about me?"
"They are, just a lot less than they're talking about me."
"..." Xiao Wu was speechless again.
Before long, they arrived at the dormitory building.
Aotian didn't need to ask for directions, walking straight toward Dormitory Seven.
"Hey, Aotian, have you been here before?" Xiao Wu asked curiously.
"Never."
"Then how are you so familiar with this place?"
Aotian didn't answer her question, instead pointing to a room at the end of the hall. "That's Dormitory Seven."
"I'll go take a look first," Xiao Wu said, then dashed over, clutching her school uniform.
Aotian shook his head with a smile, thinking, "I wonder if this little girl will still ask Tang San to share a bed with her?"
He felt that he had inadvertently gained Xiao Wu's friendship ahead of schedule. Perhaps she would choose him instead of Tang San.
"This makes things more interesting. I'm actually looking forward to it," Aotian smiled confidently and quickened his pace to follow.
Xiao Wu arrived at the dormitory entrance and politely asked, "Excuse me, is this Dormitory Seven?"
The male students inside looked out, and their eyes instantly went wide.
The little girl at the door was arguably the prettiest girl they had ever seen.
A few of the older boys, looking at the delectable Xiao Wu, couldn't help but gulp.
The work-study students were all boys, and it had been a long time since a girl had been among them, let alone one as beautiful as this. No wonder they lost their composure.
Wang Sheng, the oldest in the dormitory, quickly replied, "Yes, yes, this is Dormitory Seven."
Including him, many of the male students began to get excited.
"Hello everyone, my name is Xiao Wu, the 'Wu' from the word for dance," Xiao Wu said with a sweet smile.
"Hello."
"Hello."
The boys kept responding.
Even Tang San, with his mature disposition, couldn't help but glance at Xiao Wu a few more times, having to admit in his heart how cute this little girl was.
Just then, Aotian arrived behind Xiao Wu, and everyone's gaze immediately shifted to him.
"Hiss..."
A sound of sharp, collective gasps filled the room.
"How can he be so handsome?" someone couldn't help but exclaim, their voice filled with thick envy and jealousy.
Those who had just been thinking about how to get closer to Xiao Wu immediately lost all their confidence upon seeing Aotian.
A hint of a smile appeared on Tang San's face. Aotian had been lucky earlier; a teacher had helped him out of his predicament.
But now that they were here, his luck had run out.
This was the perfect opportunity to use the rules of Dormitory Seven to teach Aotian a lesson. An arrogant and conceited child like him needed to be educated through a sound thrashing; otherwise, who knew what kind of menace he would become in the future.
Before Aotian and Xiao Wu had arrived, Tang San had already defeated the previously strongest student, Wang Sheng, becoming the new Boss of the dorm.
Wang Sheng quietly nudged Tang San. "Boss, it's your turn to act. Give them a show of our strength."
Tang San nodded and strode forward.
