Chapter 11: Grandmaster's Ambition

2024-07-17 Author: Xianyu Wangyue

Aotian, who was following behind, suddenly paused and turned to look back.

At a distant street corner, a burly figure shrouded in a black robe was staring in the direction of Nuoding Academy.

Aotian could also sense a wave of Spiritual Power, characteristic of a Titled Douluo, emanating from the black-robed figure and sweeping through Nuoding Academy.

Aotian withdrew his gaze and continued to follow behind Grandmaster and Tang San.

He knew that the person gazing at them was Tang Hao, the greatest genius of the Clear Sky Sect in a century, a powerhouse with the title of Clear Sky Douluo.

"Teacher, thank you," Tang San said gratefully.

Grandmaster lowered his head and chuckled, "You've misunderstood. I'm not a teacher at Nuoding Academy."

"But didn't you just say you were representing the Academy?" Tang San asked, confused.

Grandmaster smiled and shook his head. "Someone who represents the Academy isn't necessarily a teacher. I'm just a guest who freeloads for food and lodging here. Everyone else calls me Grandmaster."

"Then why do they call you Grandmaster?"

"Because I've spent decades researching Spirit Souls. On the Douluo Continent, when it comes to the knowledge of Spirit Souls, if I claim to be second, no one would dare claim to be first." Grandmaster's voice rose slightly. He cast an imperceptible glance back and was somewhat pleased to see Aotian still following.

Ordinarily, with his disposition, he wouldn't speak so arrogantly.

But today's situation was different. He had already made up his mind to take these two children as his disciples.

It was just that the child behind was a bit hard to deal with, so he could only display his profound knowledge.

Children easily admire impressive people. If he appeared more formidable, perhaps these two children would obediently ask him to be their master.

Such fine material! If taught by other teachers, it would be a complete disservice to them, a waste of their peerless talent.

Only he was qualified to be these two children's teacher, to train them into peerless experts.

Grandmaster couldn't help but clench his fist. Others called him Grandmaster, but he knew it was merely a form of mockery. Aside from that woman back then, no one acknowledged his theories; they often treated him as a laughingstock.

He had been holding in his frustration for over a decade. Today, he finally saw a glimmer of hope for vindication.

As long as he could take these two children as his disciples and use his theories to cultivate them into supreme powerhouses, then those ignorant people who mocked him would shut their mouths in shame, unable to show their faces.

"Bibi Dong, back then you didn't even give me a chance to explain. One day, I will stand before you, open and proud..."

Tang San furrowed his little brow. No matter how he listened, Grandmaster's words sounded like he was just bragging.

To dare say his knowledge of Spirit Souls was the best on the Continent—that was far too arrogant.

Tang San's soul was already that of a man in his thirties, not some ignorant six-year-old brat. He wasn't so easily fooled.

In an instant, the favorable impression he had just begun to form of Grandmaster quickly vanished.

Aotian watched the show from behind, smiling without a word.

The three of them walked into the shade of some trees by the roadside. Grandmaster found it a bit strange that neither Tang San nor Aotian had said anything.

"You don't believe me?" he asked.

Tang San pulled his hand free from Grandmaster's grasp. "Grandmaster, thank you for helping me out just now and for bringing me in. I think I should go register now."

Grandmaster was stunned. This wasn't the reaction of a six-year-old child. Shouldn't he be full of admiration?

He turned his head to look at Aotian, only to find a faint smile on Aotian's face, one that seemed to carry a hint of ridicule.

Seeing that Tang San was about to leave, Grandmaster grew anxious and hurriedly said, "Tang San, no matter what, you are the third person on the Continent in a hundred years with Twin Spirit Souls. If you don't receive the proper guidance, you will take many wrong turns and waste your great talent."

Tang San, who had just lifted his foot to leave, immediately put it back down. He spun around and stared at Grandmaster with suspicion and uncertainty, his left hand quietly rising, ready to launch a fatal blow at any moment.

Grandmaster was completely unaware that he was standing before the Gates of Hell. Seeing that his words had drawn Tang San back, he revealed a smile and said:

"Are you wondering how I know the secret of your Twin Spirit Souls?"

Tang San didn't speak, his gaze fixed tightly on Grandmaster. Only Aotian could sense the killing intent hidden deep within his eyes.

If Grandmaster showed even a hint of malicious intent, Tang San would attack without hesitation. His father had warned him that the secret of the Clear Sky Hammer must never be revealed.

Tang San's position was very clever; he used Grandmaster's body to block Aotian's line of sight. Even if Grandmaster were killed, no one would discover that he was the killer.

How could a six-year-old child kill an adult, especially an adult who was a Spirit Master?

Seeing Tang San remain silent, Grandmaster said with an air of profound confidence, "As I said, when it comes to the knowledge of Spirit Souls, no one can compare to me. I was able to deduce the secret of your Twin Spirit Souls from your certificate alone. Otherwise, I wouldn't be worthy of being called Grandmaster."

"I once investigated..."

"According to the Ten Core Competencies of Spirit Souls that I've researched..."

Grandmaster spouted a pile of specialized knowledge, analyzing his deductions and speaking with compelling logic.

Tang San lowered his arm, his expression calming. He said, "There are exceptions to every rule. Perhaps I am the exception to your theory?"

Grandmaster shook his head. "Impossible. In the last hundred years on the Douluo Continent, there have been a total of nineteen individuals with Innate Full Spirit Power. I have carefully studied all of their Spirit Souls, and without exception, they were all powerful ones. Your Blue Silver Grass Spirit Soul, however, is exceptionally common. It is fundamentally incapable of meeting the condition for Innate Full Spirit Power. Therefore, I concluded that you must have another, more powerful Spirit Soul!"

Tang San's gaze toward Grandmaster gradually filled with respect. Suddenly, he took a step back, dropped to his knees with a thud, and kowtowed forcefully to Grandmaster three times.

Grandmaster was stunned, not understanding why Tang San would suddenly kneel and kowtow to him.

"What are you doing?" He hurriedly moved to pull Tang San up.

Tang San's expression was firm as he called out respectfully, "Grandmaster, I am willing to learn from you. Please accept me as your disciple."

In the last few minutes, he had been completely won over by Grandmaster's vast theoretical knowledge. He already possessed a powerful talent; what he lacked was knowledge of cultivation.

With such a wise man as his teacher, he would avoid taking many wrong turns.

Grandmaster smiled with great satisfaction, pulling Tang San to his feet. "Kowtowing is a rite reserved for emperors and parents. A simple bow would have sufficed."

But Tang San's expression was solemn. "A teacher for a day is a father for life. It is only right that I perform this great ceremony for you."

Grandmaster was visibly moved. He laughed heartily and said, "Good, very good! I've truly accepted a fine disciple."

Tang San also broke into a smile. He had been feeling a bit lost about his upcoming life at the Academy.

Now, having taken Grandmaster as his master, he suddenly had a clear direction.

Grandmaster suddenly remembered the other little genius. He quickly turned, looking at Aotian with expectation.

Tang San's brow furrowed slightly. Perhaps it was because Aotian had refused to show Grandmaster his Spirit Soul earlier, but he found himself disliking this good-looking child.

Tang San had also guessed Grandmaster's intention to take Aotian as a disciple.

Aotian smiled, his eyes meeting Grandmaster's.

Grandmaster said, "Aotian, if you also wish to become a powerful Spirit Master, then you should study with me alongside Tang San."

Aotian shook his head with a smile. "I'm sorry, but I refuse."
