Chapter 343

Third Hundred and Forty-Sixth Chapter: Dark Wanderer

Early the next morning, guided by the kind Dwarf Shaman from yesterday, I set up an ambush early on the necessary route leading to the Dwarf Tribe that might possess Gheed... Uh, a Dwarf Tribe of a thousand strong isn't easy to deal with, and I'm not in a hurry to retrieve Gheed yet. It's better to first tease that Black-Robed Creature and gauge his Strength.

Just in case, I only brought Little Snow and Lazy Crow with me. Little Ghost naturally hid in the Necklace. Poison Creeper and the other four Ghost Wolves stayed in a safe place with Three-No Princess. This way, even if that Black-Robed Creature is a monstrously powerful Elite Level being, it would be easier for me to escape.

But sitting on the tree, dangling my feet, a blade of Green Grass in my mouth, I watched the fiery Morning Sun rise from the east, then watched it slowly climb higher, reaching the top of my Head. Three-No Princess came once in between, bringing me fragrant Lunch. Then I took an Afternoon Nap, and watched the scorching white Sun gradually turn red and set on the other side of the Forest, but that Black Robed Bastard still showed no Movement.

Could it be... I was Deceived by a Dwarf Shaman?

Just as I was immersed in the frustration of being the first Adventurer in history to be Deceived by a Tier 3 mentally challenged Dwarf Shaman, Lazy Crow's cawing finally came from the distance of the Setting Sun. My Spirit immediately lifted. It seemed there was still a turn of events.

From Lazy Crow, I learned that the other party had only set off a little while ago and was slowly advancing along a nearby small Route. I couldn't help but inwardly slander – is this guy a night owl or something? Why wait until the Moment of twilight to set off? Doesn't he know the early bird catches the worm?

Muttering to myself, I spat out the Green Grass from my mouth. With a few Leaps aided by the Tree Branches, I disappeared into the depths of the Dense Forest. In less than a Moment, I arrived at the necessary Route of the Black-Robed Creature. Drawing my Sword, I performed a few fancy Sword flourishes Fei Jian, then raised it high and naturally 'inserted' it into the Ground, standing with the Sword planted.

The Setting Sun was like Blood. In the depths of that Blood-red 'color', a Black Point slowly appeared. The Black Point grew larger and larger, gradually transforming into a Figure. The twilight, like Blood, stretched its Figure long and drawn out, as if it were an old man worn down by the Vicissitudes of Age. That long Shadow moved little by little on the Ground, finally stopping less than an inch from my heel.

"You're finally here."

From beginning to end, I maintained a straight posture, one hand on the planted Sword, the other behind my back. With my back to the Setting Sun, I silently looked up at the Blood-red Moon that was slowly rising before the Setting Sun had completely fallen, leaving behind a Back View that seemed to speak of infinite vastness and Loneliness.

"..."

The Shadow standing still seemed to fall into silence.

"You shouldn't have come."

I gently drew the Sword out and stroked it in my hand. My Movements were gentle, but my Voice was cold.

"..."

"..."

"Damn it, would it kill you to cooperate? Do you know how rare this kind of natural Atmosphere is?" I finally couldn't help but swing my Sword and turn around, lamenting heartbrokenly to the unknown Black-Robed Creature dozens of meters away from me.

"Tsk tsk... tsk..."

After half a second of stunned silence, the Black-Robed Creature suddenly let out a strange laugh. The tone, like metal rubbing, was as unpleasant as could be.

"So it's... it's a Human... Adventurer... To dare... to come alone, you're seeking your own death, tsk tsk... tsk tsk..."

"Is that so?"

I casually played with the Crystal Sword in my hand, responding indifferently. Ever since I learned from the Dwarf Shaman that there were many Organizations like theirs, to be honest, I felt much more at ease. Thinking about it, since there's more than one Organization, there must be more than one Organizer like the Black-Robed Creature. Mass-produced Enemies, no matter how strong, have limited Strength, right?

"Since I'm about to die anyway, you wouldn't mind telling me a little something, would you?"

With a smile, I lifted my right foot, took a step forward, and then slowly put it down, landing exactly on the Black-Robed Creature's Shadow. The Atmosphere seemed to freeze for a Moment.

"Tsk tsk... tsk tsk..."

The other party didn't move, but kept giving me that strange laugh. The face buried in the Shadow seemed to have two pairs of incredibly Evil Gaze 'shooting' towards my entire Body like knives.

One step... two steps... three steps... I maintained the rhythm, slowly approaching the Black-Robed Creature step by step. The other party stood still, staring at me and laughing strangely, as if calculating something. The Surroundings were silent. Even the Insect Chirping that could vaguely be heard just now seemed to have sensed this strange and oppressive Atmosphere and quieted down.

When the Distance closed to about ten meters, my Footsteps paused slightly. I finally saw the other party's Name, which meant I could confirm it was undoubtedly a Monster.

Dark... Wanderer?...

A strange Monster Name. I searched my Memory of the introductions to all Monsters in Cain's Book, but I couldn't find any record of this Monster's Existence. Could it be a new species?

Moreover, what surprised me the most was the Presence I felt from the other party. It wasn't too strong; it was incredibly weak, even weaker than a Fallen. What the heck, turns out it was just putting on airs, scaring my little heart into pounding.

Seeing me suddenly stop, the Dark Wanderer seemed a little surprised. Even that metallic, grating laugh stopped. The two points of Gaze flickering from within the dark Cloak became unsteady.

I smiled slightly at the Black-Robed Creature, raised my left palm towards it, and gently waved.

"Hello, Expert. Goodbye, Expert!"

As soon as the words fell, a White Point suddenly flashed from the depths of the Dense Forest. Before my Brain could even react, this White Point had turned into a Bucket-thick White 'color' Light Pillar, piercing directly through the Dark Wanderer's Chest without missing.

Anyway, it's just a mass-produced cannon fodder, probably won't yield anything useful. I was too lazy to waste time. Striking first is the way of the King.

Although its Strength looked low, I didn't relax. According to Cain's Book, there's a Monster in Harrogath called a 'Suicide' Follower or something. Although its Strength is low, it's a die-hard terrorist. Its Self-Destruct is incredibly professional and extremely lethal, almost capable of Instant Kill Mages with low Health and Defense.

After being pierced through by Little Snow's Radiant Fury Strike, the Dark Wanderer flew high like withered grass. From my angle, I could clearly see its pierced Chest. Inside, there seemed to be only a Void of Black 'color', no Entity at all, which sent a hint of vigilance through my Inner Heart.

After being spectacularly knocked into Mid-air, the tattered Black Robe fluttered in the Wind. The Dark Wanderer's Corpse (?) fell slowly like cotton, landing on the Ground with a soft "poof".

Lying quietly on the Ground, the Dark Wanderer seemed truly dead. However, my Inner Crisis grew stronger, and I couldn't help but slowly retreat. Little Snow also leaped out from the Dense Forest, crouching on all fours and low growling at the Dark Wanderer.

"Bang—"

Under my and Little Snow's vigilant Gaze, the Dark Wanderer's Body suddenly split apart. The Black Robe on its Body instantly shattered into hundreds of Black Cloth pieces, exploding outwards in all directions with terrifying, bullet-like Speed. I had already equipped a Large Shield and half-squatted, blocking in front of Little Snow. The fragmented cloth strips 'shooting' over hit the Shield, making clanging sounds, but they couldn't break my Defense at all.

The intense explosion lasted less than a second. When I 'revealed' my face from behind the Shield, the place where the Dark Wanderer had been lying was now covered in shallow pits. It seemed that seven streams of Black Gas emitting Evil Force, which had emerged from its Void Body, were constantly weaving and circling in the Mid-air above.

Damn it!! I've got seven gourds too! Do you think you can become the Protagonist just by gathering seven?

Seeing that the Dark Wanderer had stolen all the thunder, I felt depressed. How could I let them continue playing like this? Almost without thinking, I threw a Paladin Tier 2 Skill, Holy Bolt, at the Target.

Evil, of course, must be punished by Justice.

The dazzling Holy Bolt whistled as it swept towards the seven streams of Black Gas. They seemed to panic then, quickly rolling down to the Ground. As Black 'color' Light flashed, the next Moment, seven terrifying Monsters I had never seen before appeared In Front of me.

At the front was a grotesque Head as big as a football, covered in sharp Bone Spurs. On either side of the Head were a pair of strong Arms like a Human's, and a long Tail was directly attached to the back. It looked like a tadpole that had grown front limbs. But I would bet money that a tadpole magnified dozens of times would definitely be cuter than it.

These crawling Monsters, covered in Weapons, swung their long Tails behind them, using their two sturdy Arms to crawl on the Ground. Their Speed was surprisingly no slower than the Dwarf, who are known for their Dexterity.

Blood Flesh Beast!

Seven Elite Level Blood Flesh Beasts!!

This was the information I got from them. According to the records in Cain's Book, Blood Flesh Beasts are Monsters from Harrogath. How did they end up in Kurast? And seven Elites at that! If a Normal Adventure Team encountered them, wouldn't they be certain to die?

Seeing the seven Elite Level Blood Flesh Beasts appear, I was first startled, then relieved. Compared to the confusion and Fear of the unknown Enemy just now, the real Enemy had finally appeared, which finally put my mind at ease.

Blood Flesh Beasts are Monsters from Harrogath, roughly Level 40 or a little higher. Their Strength is incomparable to the Monsters in Kurast. However, it's worth mentioning that Blood Flesh Beasts are the weakest Monsters in Harrogath, just like the Fallen in Rogue Encampment. They are among the Monsters that win by Quantity. So, even seven Elites are not too difficult Enemies for me.

"Little Snow, are you ready?"

Looking at the seven Elite Blood Flesh Beasts constantly alternating their hands and crawling towards us with Cheetah-like Speed, I slightly narrowed my Eyes and said to Little Snow, who was already burning with Battle Intent. Lately, I've been grinding only Mobs, my hands are almost getting rusty. It's rare to encounter a decent Opponent/Rival.

"Boom—"

The first Blood Flesh Beast to charge forward was blasted into Mid-air by a Volcano that erupted suddenly from the Ground. As expected of a Level 40+ Elite Monster, a single Volcano didn't seem to cause it much Damage. Instead, it did a somersault in the air and swooped straight down. Its two disproportionately strong Arms swung forward, its Eyes filled with ferocious and violent Gaze.

I completely ignored the Blood Flesh Beast swooping down from above. I pointed my index finger repeatedly, sending two more Blood Flesh Beasts into Mid-air. This time, I slightly adjusted the position of the Volcano. I moved the eruption point of the Volcano in front of the Blood Flesh Beasts. This way, although the Damage caused wasn't as high as exploding directly under their Buttocks, it could blast them back, preventing them from gaining a high-ground Advantage by using the force of the blast like the first Blood Flesh Beast.

What about the Blood Flesh Beast leading the charge? Before it had even swooped down halfway, it had already been hit by a home run from Little Snow, who had also leaped high into Mid-air. Her sharp Claws, like steel talons, slashed through the air, accompanied by the Blood Flesh Beast's Screams. Three spurting Bloodstains dyed the Setting Sun red.

Polar Storm.

Streams of Frost gas were shot out, freezing all 'approaching' Blood Flesh Beasts blue. Their Speed instantly slowed by nearly half. I quickly retreated, and Inferno sprayed out from my hands again, letting the frozen Elite Blood Flesh Beasts enjoy the "thrill" of Ice and Fire Dual Heaven.

While the Blood Flesh Beasts were still wailing in Pain from Inferno, I suddenly stepped forward a few paces, entering their encirclement. Just as they thought the Enemy was "delivering themselves to their doorstep", a circle of dazzling Frost Nova suddenly exploded centered around me, plunging them back into a tangled Frozen State.

What a pity, Magic above Tier 2 requires too long a Cooldown, and I don't have many area-of-effect Cold Magic Skills right now. Otherwise, I would definitely let them witness the Kiting Tactic. Seeing that Polar Storm's Cooldown wasn't over, I regretfully threw a Blizzard and Ice Bolt, then a Holy Bolt. Uh, I can't waste any more Mana, otherwise, it won't be enough after Shapeshifting. After drinking a few Mana Potions, I finally cast Amplify Damage on the Blood Flesh Beasts, let out a Roar, and rushed forward after Werewolf Transformation.

What a pity, what a pity. After Shapeshifting, I can't cast Magic. Otherwise, it would be much easier. When facing a somewhat decent Enemy, I realize I still have many shortcomings, although these shortcomings are relatively luxurious for other Kurast Level Druids.

Frenzy!

The Werewolf's Claws slashed across one Elite Blood Flesh Beast, sending several Blood Splatters high into the air. At this moment, the six Blood Flesh Beasts also recovered from the Frozen State, and one by one, they bared their Tusks and Claws and pounced.

Damn. What hard Fists.

Carelessly, I was hit squarely by the double Fists of a Blood Flesh Beast that suddenly sprang up. I scraped the Ground and retreated nearly a meter before stabilizing myself. As expected of a Level 40+ Elite Monster, even the weakest in that Tier, their Strength cannot be underestimated.

Having witnessed the Blood Flesh Beasts' Strength, my Eyes darted around, and a hint of ferocity flashed in the bared Tusks of my grin. Relying on the Speed and Life Steal Property bonus brought by Frenzy, I tried my best to Dodge the attacks of the six Blood Flesh Beasts while tightly clinging to one of them. The most important rule when being Group Beatdown is to focus on one Enemy.

For a time, the Battlefield was filled with flying Dirt. Accompanied by whooshing sounds through the air, Shadow figures constantly flashed by, then intertwined again. The splashing Blood dyed the Battlefield red. The dull thuds and the buzzing sound of Claws cutting through the air rang non-stop.

The Blood Flesh Beasts indeed had some tricks. Their Speed was already decent, and the Moment they attacked, it was hundreds of times faster than a Viper. I admit I underestimated them a little. At the very beginning, in a Moment of carelessness, I was tossed around like a volleyball by their tidal wave of impacts, unable to stop for a Moment. Later, I found a Weakness and barely managed to Leap out of that terrifying Combo Hell.

However, being abused for a while wasn't without Gain. I had seen through the small Movement they made before attacking – every time they Charged, they would reflexively stiffen their Tail.

Sometimes, dodging an Enemy's Attack doesn't necessarily require being faster than them, right?

After finding a Method to deal with them, my Pressure significantly decreased. Although I was still inevitably hit, it was much better than at the beginning. Just then, the message from Little Snow made me slightly happy. Little Snow is Little Snow; she took down a Level 40+ Elite in just a few moves.

"Swoosh—swoosh—"

Facing the Charges of the two Blood Flesh Beasts on my left and right, I suddenly lowered my Body. After dodging the Attack, I pushed off the Ground and leaped high backward, escaping their encirclement. Before the six Blood Flesh Beasts could charge up, a familiar Light Point lit up nearby, followed by a Bucket-thick Light Pillar descending from the sky, landing among the Blood Flesh Beasts. A huge explosion sounded, accompanied by a strong airflow of Dirt and Stones rushing towards the sky. Even I, in Mid-air, was inevitably blown high by the airflow, doing a few somersaults in the air before landing steadily on a Tree Branch, then looking excitedly at the Blood Flesh Beasts that were disoriented by the Radiant Fury Strike.

Oh? The Blood Flesh Beast I focused on is already critically injured. What a poor child. Let me end your ugly life. A sharp Gaze flashed in my Eyes. The next Moment, I had transformed into a Black Shadow and swooped straight down towards the Blood Flesh Beast that was blasted over and couldn't get up. Little Snow, who roared and leaped out from the side, seemed to have the same Idea and transformed into two Black Shadows, pouncing together.

As expected of my Summon, even its Ideas are the same as its Master's. But hey, I'm the Master after all. Smiling inwardly, Little Snow immediately looked depressed. With a strong push of her feet, the black shadow that swept up made a wide turn and pounced towards another Blood Flesh Beast.

The Enemy had five Blood Flesh Beasts remaining with varying Injuries, and we had gained a powerful Thug. The remaining five Elite Blood Flesh Beasts didn't last long. They were defeated one by one by me and Little Snow, leaving behind seven Corpses and a pile of Equipment on the Ground.

In this Battle, I was somewhat overly battered, my Life dropping by a rare third. But this couldn't be helped. Just like in a Game, when facing a new Enemy, because their Strength and Attack Pattern are unknown, you are always constrained and unable to fully utilize your own Strength. Once you figure out their Attack Routine, it becomes much easier.

Just as I breathed a sigh of relief, the seven Blood Flesh Beast Corpses suddenly turned into Black Light, then gathered into a ball. My Inner Heart was immediately startled. Was it not over yet?

"Don't be... complacent... Human... Envoy Lord will... will avenge me..."

The grating Voice of the Dark Wanderer, filled with infinite Resentment, came from the Black 'color' sphere, then it let out a strange cry and exploded with a "Bang—", fading away in the Setting Sun.

Thank goodness, thank goodness. No new Enemies appeared. Looking at the gradually dissipating Black 'color' Gas, I let go of my tightly held Inner Heart. If even a mass-produced Dark Wanderer was this powerful, then the Elf Race would truly be in great peril.

However, who was the "Emissary" it mentioned at the end? Could it be the Leader of the Dark Wanderer, the Mastermind behind this attack on the Elf Race?

After pondering for a while, my attention was quickly drawn to the items scattered on the Ground. Seven Level 40+ Elite Monsters! From the previous Fallen incident when the Third Act attacked, I vaguely guessed that the Drop Rate for killing Monsters above your Level was relatively high. Now it seems it's true. There were three Gold Equipment pieces! Oh oh, the Druid Special Item I've been dreaming of dropping, Antlers, Gold Antlers! God, praise you.

But, if the Stats are as awkward as the first Wolf Head, don't blame me for nailing Scarecrow.

Besides that, there were two Normal Gems, five Flawed Gems, and a Rune. There were also quite a few good Magic Grade Equipment pieces. Among them, a Magic Grade Light Armor had a Base Defense 70% higher than a Chest Armor, and the Strength Requirement was only 11 points more. It's the favorite of Assassins and Mages. There was also a Magic Grade Tower Shield. Damn, this thing's Weight is astonishing, requiring a Strength Requirement of 75 points! Of course, correspondingly, the Base Defense is a terrifying 70 points, nearly 10 points higher than the Gold Grade Bone Shield I got a few days ago. But it's so heavy, I won't use this thing for Battle. Selling it to a Paladin or Barbarian is a good choice.

I collected these Equipment pieces one by one, saving them to enjoy the pleasure of Identify with the Little Squirts in the evening. However, among the few Equipment pieces, I probably won't be able to use many. Just like the Level 63 Bracer dropped by the Fallen from the Third Act last time, these Equipment pieces were dropped from Level 40+ Elite Monsters, so the required Level naturally won't be too different. At my current Level, it's hard to say.

Thinking this, I felt a bit conflicted again. It's that Gold Antlers. From the perspective of immediate Interest, I naturally hope to be able to use it right away. But looking at the long term, I hope its required Level can exceed 36, because only Antlers above Level 36 will come with Tier 4 Skills...

Shaking my Head in distress, I picked up the last Gold Coin. My Gaze was suddenly attracted by a Javelin rolling in the Grass. Ah ah, there was another Equipment hidden here! Although it looked Normal, a small piece of Meat is still Meat.

Picking up the Javelin, out of professional habit, I subconsciously glanced at its Stats, and froze.

Super powerful Stats? No!

Super Junk Stats? Neither!

What the hell! There are no Stats at all, you Bastard!! I furiously flipped the Table in my Inner Heart.

This perfectly fine Javelin, I looked left and right, up and down, looked again and again, but I couldn't find any description of its Attack Damage, required Level, or anything similar. The entire Javelin, completely bare, had only one piece of data.

Durability: 30-30

Hmph hmph, there's no Attack, what's the point of Durability?!!

But the next Moment, I was startled again by this Javelin. I can swear that I absolutely did not attack with this Javelin out of spite just now, not even touching a Mosquito. But miraculously, the Durability of this Javelin suddenly jumped, becoming Durability: )-30.

I can't take it anymore. Whoever wants to buy this Javelin, I'll pay you to take it.

Wait—

Just then, a flash of inspiration struck me. This Javelin looks exactly like the kind the Little People carry. So, let's make a bold guess. Could this thing be the Proof of Strength of the Little People that the Dwarf Shaman mentioned?
