Chapter 777: Dark Elves
Author: Great Demon Spirit
The seven-colored band representing light was locked in a fierce conflict with the band of darkness, causing the entire emotional spectrum to tremble violently.
All across Earth, the clash between light and darkness raged. The previously unkillable Black Lantern zombies were now beginning to be destroyed under the combined assault of numerous other Lantern rings.
The power of the spectrum had to be countered with its own power. With Green Lantern rings and other Lantern rings in hand, their combined might could kill the Black Lantern zombies.
Although the arrival of these multi-colored Lantern rings was far from enough for the people of Earth to turn the tide, it at least slowed the pace of their defeat and gave them the ability to fight back against the zombies.
...
Scar returned to Oa with a blank expression.
"Scar, where have you been?!"
"The Central Power Battery was taken by Tony!"
The four Guardians loosely surrounded Scar, berating her one after another.
"The emotional spectrum has erupted into a massive riot throughout the Prime Universe! The chaotic battle of the Seven Lantern Corps has already left us overwhelmed, so what have you been doing?!"
Scar looked at the four of them, and a strange smile suddenly appeared on her once-indifferent face.
"You..."
Scar lunged at one of her companions, opened her mouth wide, and, under the horrified gazes of the other three and hundreds of Lanterns, bit down hard on the Guardian's neck, tearing away a large chunk of flesh.
Amidst the Guardian's agonizing screams, a large amount of black blood gushed from Scar's mouth and flowed into the wound. The victim was instantly enveloped by the black blood, their screams growing fainter until they fell completely silent.
"What are you doing!!!"
The other three shouted, their Green Lantern rings flaring to life as they aimed at Scar.
Scar sneered, "Sending you to your deaths!"
Bang! Bang!
A hail of gunfire suddenly erupted from the darkness, sweeping across Oa. One after another, spaceships suddenly invaded Oa and began bombarding the Lanterns.
"Dark Elves... these damned rats..."
The Lanterns began to fight back, confronting the spaceships.
Unfortunately, it was too late.
A piercing sound echoed as the Black Lantern tide finally reached Sector 0. Countless Black Lantern rings swarmed in, dense and overwhelming like a plague of black locusts. They descended upon Oa and charged into the Green Lantern Corps' crypts.
Buried there were the Green Lanterns who had died over the long ages. At this moment, under the power of the Black Lantern rings, they were all resurrected.
The war between the dead and the living finally erupted in full force, plunging the entire Prime Universe into endless, fierce battle.
"Scar! You've betrayed us!" The Guardians turned their attacks on Scar, but she merely sneered and retreated, letting a group of Black Lantern zombies block the way as cannon fodder.
The few remaining Green Lanterns fought desperately, but it was futile. No matter how hard they tried or how many zombies they killed, the creatures would simply regenerate in an instant.
Scar quietly watched the Black Lantern army lay siege to Oa. The planet's destruction was only a matter of time.
"Hehehe, Your Excellency Scar..."
Malekith approached Scar's side, a strained, ugly smile plastered on his pale face.
Scar looked at him coldly.
"We Dark Elves are loyal followers of the darkness. We have waited billions of years for this day. When will we be able to meet Lord Nekron?"
Malekith's face was filled with fanaticism.
Scar stared at him for a moment before forcing a smile. "Soon. If you wish, you can see him right now."
Malekith was ecstatic. "Really?"
"Of course. Nekron is everywhere."
With a strange smile, Scar beckoned, and a Black Lantern ring floated into her hand.
Holding the ring out to Malekith, Scar said in a chilling voice, "Put on this ring, and you will see Nekron with your own eyes."
Malekith's expression changed, and he let out a dry laugh. "Your Excellency Scar, you jest. I would much rather meet Nekron in my current state. Our Dark Elves' devotion to the darkness will surely satisfy Lord Nekron. He needs servants like us..."
"Nekron has never needed the living as servants, not even living beings like you!"
Scar grinned, her face a mask of savagery. Countless Black Lantern rings suddenly swarmed over, instantly cornering Malekith. Before he could curse or plead, a Black Lantern ring was forcibly placed on his finger, killing him on the spot.
The other Dark Elves did not escape either. Their spaceships were breached by Black Lantern rings, and they were all transformed into zombies.
Scar silently watched as Oa was gradually swallowed by darkness, her gaze as cold as ice. As the first to defect to the side of darkness, she was more than happy to send her companions to meet Nekron.
If they weren't proactive, Scar was perfectly willing to give them a push.
Suddenly, Scar's gaze shifted. Illuminated by a massive beam of indigo light, members of the Green, Indigo, and Yellow Lantern Corps suddenly appeared.
Indigo-1 had returned to Oa with a group of Green Lanterns and Yellow Lanterns at the fastest possible speed, but it was a little too late. They had to face a countless horde of Black Lantern zombies, many of whom were familiar faces.
Right now, the Seven Lantern Corps across the Prime Universe were all sensing that something was wrong. The rapidly expanding darkness and the mad proliferation of Black Lantern rings posed a substantial and fatal threat to them, and they were gradually beginning to unite.
"Cybertron has issued the highest mobilization order, broadcasting a command to the entire universe to fight against the Blackest Night! We must unite!" Indigo-1 urgently said to all the living.
Scar watched them with indifference before silently departing, vanishing into the Black Lantern tide.
The Blackest Night had fallen. No one was a match for Nekron. Scar believed this with all her heart.
Once Nekron had absorbed enough energy to move freely in his true form, the fate of the Prime Universe, and even the multiverse, was already sealed.
...
Countless Black Lantern rings swept across the entire Prime Universe. Mechanical voices echoed in every corner, chilling all who heard them.
"Odin of Asgard, rise!"
"Zeus of Olympus, rise!"
"Mephisto of Hell, rise!"
"..."
The Black Lantern rings began to frantically resurrect dead powerhouses. One by one, beings who had once shaken entire regions were awakened by the rings, reduced to zombies under their control. They had no autonomy, only their bodies and the formidable power they possessed in life. These zombies didn't even have souls.
Their memories, emotions, habits, and more would be instantly copied by the Black Lantern ring. Although these Black Lantern zombies could speak, lie, and were adept at using words to deceive people they knew, they would then kill the living once their emotions were sufficiently stirred and carve out their hearts.
But all of this was controlled by the Black Lantern ring.
