Chapter 657: Silver Surfer
2022-10-19 Author: Great Demon Spirit
Galactus had not yet arrived, but the Silver Surfer, acting as a vanguard, had already ridden his surfboard to Earth to conduct a survey.
More precisely, his mission was to assess whether Earth had value as a meal.
Not all planets were worthy of entering Galactus's stomach; different types of planets had different tastes, and some would only leave Galactus feeling disgusted and enraged.
In the past, more than once, unfortunate Heralds of Galactus had been beaten by a furious Galactus for finding utterly terrible food.
As the Silver Surfer, who had followed Galactus for a very long time, he naturally had rigorous assessment standards.
"Abundant population, swarms of creations, diverse planetary structures, as well as a reality involving multiple rule changes... This is a top-tier planet."
The Silver Surfer circled Earth on his silver surfboard, confirming it was Galactus's favorite kind of food, and a rare hint of satisfaction appeared on his usually indifferent face.
"Indeed the homeland of the New Gods, perfectly meeting my master's standards."
The Silver Surfer quickly descended, attempting to further observe the planet's species.
The superheroes who had already been observing him quickly cornered him in a No Man's Land.
"Alien, state your purpose!" Clark said with a look of stern authority.
The Silver Surfer flew around him, continuing on his way.
A Godkiller Sword thrust towards him, Diana's gaze unfriendly.
The Silver Surfer continued to circle, attempting to leave from another direction.
Iron Man's Iron Legion surrounded him, blocking all his routes. Dozens of armored hands spread open, and their energy cannons began to charge.
"If you don't answer, we will put you in prison," Tony said coldly.
Several gazes met, then quickly darted away, a tacit understanding passing between them.
A few dozen minutes earlier, Stephen had first observed the terrifying figure of Galactus and found records of Galactus in Kamar-Taj's ancient texts, immediately sending an emergency signal to the Illuminati members in heart-pounding alarm.
It was a crisis signal of the highest level.
There was no helping it; Galactus's name was too terrifying. He was a ruthless entity who devoured planets whole, rampaging across the Universe for fifteen billion years, truly invincible.
Countless planets had been consumed by Galactus, leaving not even a speck behind, so it was no wonder the Earth's Heroes were nervous.
And at this critical juncture, the Silver Surfer, who had suddenly appeared, naturally fell under the strict surveillance of the Earthlings.
The Silver Surfer looked at the Heroes blocking his path, pausing for a fraction of a second at each one, a faint disappointment surfacing in his mercury-like eyes.
"If the homeland of the New Gods consists only of people like you, you will never escape your fate."
The Silver Surfer stood on his surfboard, indifferently meeting the gaze of the more than ten Heroes present.
Clark's expression turned grim: "What is your relationship with Galactus?"
The Silver Surfer didn't speak, merely shaking his head in disappointment. He had expected to find a surprise on Earth, but instead, only these caliber of individuals had appeared. Such people could never resist his master...
The Silver Surfer remained silent, turning his surfboard, about to forcibly break through and search for more powerful life forms.
He was somewhat unwilling to give up; logically, there should still be powerful individuals on Earth.
*Whoosh—Boom!*
Over thirty units of the Iron Legion opened fire.
"Don't blame me, you brought this upon yourself!"
Tony piloted his armor, commanding the other thirty-plus armors of various models to fire simultaneously. The white fusion energy cannons charged frantically, reaching maximum energy output in just one or two seconds. White light roared, energy blasted, and dozens of light pillars slammed into the Silver Surfer at the center.
"Tony..."
Clark frowned, but immediately closed his mouth. It wasn't that his bleeding heart was acting up; Superman always had a terrifyingly broad-minded bleeding heart for Earthlings, but for aliens? Kill them first, then talk...
However, this guy in front of them likely possessed information about Galactus, and it would be a shame if he were blasted to death.
Powerful energy bombarded the Silver Surfer, instantly engulfing him, striking from above. However, the human-sized Silver Surfer quickly crashed from the sky into the ground, accompanied by a violent explosion.
Tony flew above the deep crater, quickly scanning for life signatures below, but found nothing.
"This is just the beginning; the enemy we face this time is completely different from before. Guys, I have a plan... wait, how is this mass of mercury still alive?"
Below, smoke and dust spread, rapidly settling under an invisible power, each particle seemingly pulled down by a stronger gravitational force. The chaotic air quickly cleared.
The Silver Surfer patted his pristine silver body, his sculptural face devoid of expression, unchanging from beginning to end.
"You are too weak. Give up."
The Silver Surfer said in a low voice.
"Who are you to Galactus?" Diana asked.
"I am one of Galactus's four Heralds. If you can't even defeat me, what will you use to fight Galactus?"
The Silver Surfer shook his head, slowly extended his hand, and several Armored Suits immediately exploded. The silver figure weaved through, and Tony's Iron Legion was like paper, turning into bursts of fireworks.
"You are too weak. Call stronger people," the Silver Surfer said with disappointment.
"You want us to stop Galactus?" Clark said gravely.
"He needs to eat, he needs to constantly eat. You haven't seen him in a state of rage due to hunger, eating indiscriminately, consuming everything he can touch..."
The Silver Surfer, who rarely spoke so much, cast a cold glance at everyone present, then directly rode his surfboard away, instantly vanishing into the sky.
The Flash looked up and asked, "Aren't we going to stop him?"
"Find him, and try to get more information about Galactus. But don't make a move unless absolutely necessary; we might be able to win him over," Clark said with a solemn expression.
"There are three more guys like him, plus the terrifying Galactus... Gentlemen, I think this is going to be a lot of trouble, more trouble than the Steppenwolf incident. At least Steppenwolf wasn't so massive he could swallow Earth in one gulp."
Tony looked at the armor fragments scattered across the ground and said helplessly.
Clark said, "We need to find a way to discover Galactus's weakness, or have a warrior among us capable of matching him."
Everyone fell silent.
It was too difficult. Galactus was at the absolute pinnacle of Level Seven, with a theoretical combat power a tier stronger than even God-Kings like Odin.
After a long silence, Tony let out a deep sigh: "I'll go find Richard, he might have an idea."
"Richard? The scientist who underwent a genetic mutation after a trip to space?" The Flash asked.
"Exactly, Mr. Fantastic. Now, the entire Earth's public attention is focused on their family. Tsk tsk, all four of them underwent genetic mutations, truly rare."
